Anyone that presumes studies on worms, flies or mice have no relevance to human health & biology will get flipped by this conversation made incredible by ⁦⁩ It also explains some of your transgenerational baggage.

Deliberately making your day a bit harder (in a safe & limited domain) favorably adjusts your threshold for pleasure & pain in the rest of life. Alas, if you enjoy an activity- exercise for instance, it won’t have that effect. How to pick your poison:

Seemingly endless debate about Rx meds versus behavioral interventions for ADHD. ALL the data point to the value of including behavioral tools- whether alone or in combination with Rx treatments. Better living through chemistry still requires better living. And always will.

Absolutely wild how divergent views are on the use of Rx meds for ADHD when in fact the data are clear (& no, the studies were not funded by Big Pharma). Rx meds for ADHD are not the only answer but they have their legitimate roles. Discussed here:

Probably the most definitive narrative and breakdown to date and should be required for all prescribed these meds. IMHO. Thank you, Dr. Huberman.

Should parents put kids on ADHD meds? Will it make them prone to addiction? Are there effective non-amphetamine drugs for focus & what about true cognitive enhancers. Are there low cost Modafinil equivalents? That & more on the new Huberman Lab podcast:

Not long ago it was generally thought: 1) Animals don’t have emotions. 2) Addiction is a lack of willpower. 3) Psychedelics make people crazy*. Remarkable that modern data point to the opposite. The lesson: test existing beliefs. *Psychedelics of course can carry risks.

I love teaching via podcasting but I taught in the classroom today and it reaffirmed how nice it is to hear and address questions directly, and in real time. Thank you to all the Human Biology students who showed up to discuss learning and neuroplasticity!
