Proper Backswing
favorite_border
Impact is all the rage when discussing great iron play. But a technically sound backswing is critical to finding that forward shaft lean impact position we all desire. In this tip, James Oh starts at impact and works backwards to teach the correct position at the top of the backswing.

excellent technique- especially tight lies
I really like this concept. I went to the range today and tried it with my 7, 6 and 5 irons. It really helped me. I may try the shortened swing on the course. Could this same drill work with 3, 4 and 5 hybrids?
I’m glad this helped. This can absolutely work with your longer clubs.
I wonder if would have to make an adjustment on the impact position with the hybrids, or keep everything the same.
I tend to have a short backswing like Rahm and feel like I should be able to take the club back more. Would it be easier to focus on my hips turning back or should I focus on my shoulder turn (left shoulder under chin). I feel like I don't have enough tension in my backswing to generate power. Thanks!
If you can turn your hips and shoulders more and not lift your arms because you have the mobility, you will definitely generate more power.
This makes good sense...thank you.
That is a very helpful video tip! Thanks!
I seem to lose the athletic smooth acceleration when I try to bow my left wrist. Should I be setting up my bowed wrist at the beginning of the down swing or should it just happen naturally
Do you draw or fade the ball? Do you have a strong, weak, or neutral grip? Do you hit the ball high, medium, or low? This info will help me answer your question more accurately.
I tend to come up and out of my golf shots. How can I fix this problem.
Work on hitting the ball lower off the tee with a 3/4 swing. This should help you stay in the shot.!
what is the best club to chip
PW is a great place to start.
Depends what type of chip you want to do. But typically what is commonly used to perform a good chip shot are the wedges and 9 iron.
