The CD Pipeline Show - Continuously Delivering Software from A to Z

As software development practices evolve, continuous delivery (CD) has become a popular approach for accelerating the delivery of high-quality software products. Robust testing methodologies introduced throughout the software development life cycle are central to the success of CD, but there are some challenges organizations need to address first. This panel brings together industry experts Tracy Ragan (CEO at DeployHub), Kohsuke Kawaguchi (Co-CEO at Launchable) and Ole Lensmar (CTO at Testkube) to explore the importance of testing in continuous delivery and its impact on the overall software development process.Along with hosts Alan Shimel and Lori Lorusso, the panelists will delve into the challenges faced by organizations seeking to adopt CD, how testing plays a pivotal role in mitigating risks associated with frequent software releases and what the CD Foundation is doing to advance the state of testing in continuous delivery.

At the recent cdCon + GitOpsCon conference, The Continuous Delivery Foundation (CDF) announced the release of the fourth State of Continuous Delivery 2023 Report. The report findings are based on two and a half years of SlashData’s Developer Nation surveys from Q3 2020 to Q1 2023 that collected data from more than 125,000 respondents. Hosts Alan Shimel and Melissa McKay are joined by Liam Dodd (senior market research analyst at SlashData), Andrew Fong (CEO/co-founder at Prodvana) and Steve Fenton (octonaut at Octopus Deploy) for a conversation about and analysis of the State of Continuous Delivery 2023 Report. These expert panelists will reflect on the claims made and will share their thoughts on the key insights delivered in the report. Are software teams actually benefiting from the prevalence of DevOps tools available today? Are security concerns putting a wrench in software delivery performance benchmarks? Join our panelists for an exciting discussion about the true state of continuous delivery and other DevOps practices.

Continuous delivery (CD) and GitOps can seem intimidating, but they don't have to be! Whether you're brand-new to CD and GitOps or have been using these methodologies for a while, there's plenty to learn at cdCon +GitOpsCon. The cdCon program committee reviewed nearly 200 submissions and curated a great program with amazing technical content and community-focused sessions from project maintainers, end users and notables in the CD space.Participants will connect with and learn from practitioners about pitfalls to avoid, hurdles to jump and how to adopt the most popular open source GitOps and CD technologies such as Argo, Flux, Jenkins, Tekton and CDEvents in your cloud-native environment. In this episode, hosts Alan Shimel and Lori Lorusso are joined by members of the cdCon program committee members Adam Kaplan (Red Hat) and Andrew Fond (Prodvana) to discuss the event and why they think cdCon + GitOpsCon is a must-attend event for anyone working with GitOps and CD.

Though it's often overshadowed by continuous integration, continuous delivery (CD) is an equally critical software development practice. CD technologies are integral for organizations that want to establish complex end-to-end pipelines. CD enables organizations, regardless of their industry and size, to deliver new features, configuration changes and bug fixes in a fast and secure manner. Hosts Alan Shimel and Lori Lorusso are joined by Ger McMahon (Fidelity) and Ramin Akhbari for a great discussion about how beyond the technology, the Continuous Delivery Foundation (CDF) has a large, highly engaged and committed end-user community that works to advance CD technologies, educate users and explain the benefits of continuous delivery to a larger audience.

The Continuous Delivery Foundation (CDF) community has made tremendous progress on the issue of interoperability over the last few years, led by the CDF Special Interest Group Interoperability. The focus of the work has been on open interfaces and metadata, which are key aspects to interoperability, enabling multiple disparate systems to work with each other in a seamless manner. These efforts resulted in the creation of the CDEvents project which aims to create a common specification for CD through the use of events.
In this episode, hosts Alan Shimel (Techstrong) and Lori Lorusso (JFrog) are joined by Melissa McKay (JFrog), Fatih Degirmenci (CD Foundation), Emil Backmark (Ericsson) and Dadisi Sanyika (Apple) as they talk about the challenges CD faces, the CDF’s work on overcoming them and track the progress the CDF Special Interest Group Interoperability has made toward more open interfaces and better leveraging metadata.

Pyrsia is an open source project focused on supply chain security at the source – package management. Developers use open source software in their product builds, but not knowing where that software comes from means hard-to-spot risks to the integrity of your code. Trusting dependencies can leave the door wide open to breaches, exploits and supply chain attacks. Pyrsia is an open source-based, decentralized, secure build network and software package repository that seamlessly integrates with the package management systems developers are already using today. That agnosticism means they can certify their software components without sacrificing compatibility, security or efficiency. Pyrsia is the latest project to join the CD Foundation to further its mission to better secure the software supply chain.
Hosts Alan Shimel and Lori Lorusso are joined by our featured guests who are maintainers of, contributors to and active voices in the Pyrsia project. Sudhindra Rao (JFrog), Steve Taylor (DeployHub), Tracy Ragan (DeployHub) and Joel Marcey (Rust Foundation).

For the second episode of The State of Pipelines: Past, Present & Future, our featured guests are maintainers, contributors, and active voices in the Jenkins project and CD Foundation. This year Jenkins celebrates its 18 birthday! As the leading open source automation server, Jenkins provides hundreds of plugins to support building, deploying, and automating any project. Hosts Alan Shimel and Lori Lorusso are joined by Mark Waite (CloudBees) and Darin Pope (CloudBees) as we dive into various Jenkins topics including, modernizing the UI, security, community contributions, and more.

Continuous delivery (CD) has evolved since its inception. Our inaugural episode will trace this evolution, starting with the state of pipelines: Past, present and future. Our featured guests are maintainers, contributors and active voices in the Tekton project and CD Foundation. Tekton is an open source framework for creating CD systems, allowing developers to build, test and deploy across cloud providers and on-premises systems. Hosts Alan Shimel and Lori Lorusso are joined by Dibyo Mukherjee (Google), Lee Bernick (Google) and Andrea Frittoli (IBM) as we discuss the Tekton project about CD and how it has transformed since its inception in the early 2000s.
