Jordan Clarkson

UTA Point Guard #00

Jordan Clarkson recorded a triple-double on Monday with 20 points (8-of-16 FGs), 10 rebounds, 11 assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in a 127-90 win over Dallas.

For the first time in his career, Clarkson recorded a triple-double on Monday. While that is memorable for him, it was also the first regular season triple-double by a Jazz player since Carlos Boozer did it on February 13th, 2008. It had been 5800 days and nearly 16 years since a Utah player had a triple-double. Boozer’s triple-double was against the Seattle SuperSonics and their star rookie Kevin Durant, if that puts things in perspective. It was a performance that will go down in history for the Jazz, and it came in a blowout win. They’ll look to carry this momentum into their matchup with Detroit on Wednesday.
Walker Kessler

UTA Center #24

Walker Kessler recorded a double-double off the bench on Monday with 11 points (5-of-6 FGs), 10 rebounds, one steal and four blocks against Dallas.

Kessler has been in and out of the starting unit this season, and he came off the bench in this one. Regardless of his role, Kessler has been able to provide blocks consistently. He is currently fourth in the league in blocks per game despite playing at least four fewer minutes per game than the three players ahead of him. He has provided top-75 value despite playing just 25 minutes per game, and if he were playing closer to 30 minutes, his value would certainly skyrocket. While that could happen in the future, he will likely only provide elite blocks and solid rebounds for the rest of the season.
Simone Fontecchio

UTA Small Forward #16

Simone Fontecchio led the Jazz with 24 points (10-of-16 FGs), six rebounds, two assists, two steals, one block and three 3-pointers against the Mavericks on Monday.

Fontecchio got off to a hot start in this game and ended up scoring 14 points in the first quarter. However, he cooled down after that and wasn’t able to score as much. He tied his season-high for scoring and fell two points shy of tying his career-high, though he was on pace to break both. However, he was still able to provide well-rounded value in this game to help the Jazz blow out Dallas. Fontecchio hasn’t been a consistent producer in 9-cat leagues this season, but he has had a handful for big games. However, this game doesn’t mean that he should be considered for a roster spot in standard leagues.
Collin Sexton

UTA Shooting Guard #2

Collin Sexton logged 25 minutes in Saturday’s 117-109 win over the Heat, recording a line of 22 points (8-of-14 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), two rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one 3-pointer.

Sexton continues to shine on the perimeter for the Jazz, and we’ve approached the point where it will be tough to move him out of the starting lineup. He’s scored 19 or more in 10 of his last 11 games, providing 6th-round per-game value in 9-cat formats over the past three weeks. Sexton is still ranked outside the top 150 in season-long value, but he’s been a far better player than that. Fantasy managers can consider selling high, especially with the Jazz still bringing Keyonte George off the bench.
Kelly Olynyk

UTA Center #41

Kelly Olynyk played 28 minutes in Saturday’s 117-109 win over Miami, accounting for 19 points (8-of-12 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), six rebounds, 10 assists, one steal, and one blocked shot.

On Saturday, Olynyk recorded his second double-double of the season, his first of the points/assists variety. Rostered in 28% of Yahoo leagues, likely due to his coming off the bench most nights, Olynyk has been providing 7th-round value in 9-cat formats over the past two weeks. His big night made up for Lauri Markkanen (12/5/1/2 with one 3-pointer) and John Collins (10 points, six rebounds, and two 3-pointers) shooting a combined 8-of-24 from the field. And in a clear case of Will Hardy going with the hot hand, Olynyk played more minutes than Markkanen (26) and Collins (21).
Keyonte George

UTA Shooting Guard #3

Keyonte George shot 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from the foul line in Saturday’s 117-109 win over Miami, scoring 21 points with six rebounds, two assists, and five 3-pointers in 27 minutes.

Despite coming off the bench, George had his best game since returning from injury. Whether or not that’s enough to push the rookie back into the starting lineup, he should be fine fantasy-wise as long as he can consistently hit the high 20s in minutes. Kris Dunn started on Saturday, logging 18 minutes and finishing with two points, one rebound, six assists, two steals, and one blocked shot. At best, he remains a deep-league option while in the starting lineup. Utah plays four games in Week 11, beginning with Monday’s matchups with the Mavericks.
Simone Fontecchio

UTA Small Forward #16

Collin Sexton, Kris Dunn, Simone Fontecchio, Lauri Markkanen, and John Collins will start Saturday’s game against the Jazz.

The Jazz will start Saturday without a “true” center, as Fontecchio replaces Walker Kessler in the starting lineup. While the latter should still get the minutes needed to provide solid value, this has to frustrate fantasy managers who have him rostered. As for Fontecchio, the move into the starting lineup gives him a slight boost, but he’ll still be behind Markkanen, Sexton, and even Collins for touches.
Walker Kessler

UTA Center #24

Walker Kessler shot 5-of-5 from the field in Thursday’s 112-105 loss to the Pelicans, scoring 11 points with four rebounds, two steals, two blocks, and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes.

Yes, you read that correctly...Kessler made a 3-pointer. The second-year center has hit one in two straight games, the first time he’s done so in his brief NBA career. With Kessler moving back into the starting lineup, Kelly Olynyk came off the bench and finished with six points, three rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 19 minutes. With the former appearing to be a building block for the Jazz, Olynyk is worth watching as the February trade deadline approaches. He can help a playoff-bound team, fetching the Jazz additional draft capital in a trade.
Lauri Markkanen

UTA Power Forward #23

Lauri Markkanen played 34 minutes in Thursday’s 112-105 loss to New Orleans, amassing 24 points (7-of-19 FGs, 7-of-7 FTs), 10 rebounds, six assists, one steal, and three 3-pointers.

Markkanen had to contend with Herb Jones for most of his 34 minutes on the floor, with the impact evident by the field goal percentage and three turnovers. However, he still managed to record his fourth 20-point double-double in five games. A top 15 player in 9-cat formats over the last three weeks, Markkanen is ranked 10th for the season, according to Basketball Monster. Earlier this month, there was a report that he may not be “untouchable,” followed by unnamed executives viewing the Jazz potentially trading Markkanen as “wishful thinking.” Good luck getting Markkanen out of Utah.
Collin Sexton

UTA Shooting Guard #2

Collin Sexton shot 8-of-17 from the field and 7-of-9 from the foul line in Thursday’s 112-105 loss to the Pelicans, scoring 26 points with five rebounds, three assists, and three 3-pointers in 30 minutes.

Sexton continues to shine for the Jazz, scoring 16 points or more in 10 straight games. A 5th-round per-game player over the past three weeks, he’s averaging 22.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.8 3-pointers during this stretch, shooting 49.4% from the field and 87.5% from the foul line. Sexton’s rostered in 71% of Yahoo leagues, and based on how he’s playing, he may be the closest to a “sure thing” that fantasy managers can find in the Jazz perimeter rotation right now.
