Analyst Report: NiSource Inc.
NiSource is one of the nation's largest natural gas distribution companies with approximately 3.2 million customers in Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. NiSource’s electric utility transmits and distributes electricity in northern Indiana to about 500,000 customers. The regulated electric utility also owns more than 3,000 megawatts of generation capacity, including coal, natural gas, and renewable energy.
RatingBullishPrice TargetAnalyst Report: Dominion Energy Inc
Dominion Energy has regulated electric and natural gas utility operations in 15 states. The company generates, transmits and distributes electricity and gas, and has retail and wholesale operations. Dominion's portfolio consists of 30,200 megawatts of generation capacity, 94,200 miles of gas distribution pipelines, 85,600 miles of electric distribution lines, and 10,500 miles of electric transmission lines. Dominion serves 7 million customers with almost 4 million state-regulated utility and retail energy customers. The service region is primarily Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. In 2023, DEV accounted for about 67% of total revenue and DESC accounted for about 24%. The company operates five nuclear generation sites and Dominion's fuel mix is 42% nuclear, though generation still comes from gas, coal, and oil. To change this mix, Dominion is developing offshore wind farms and increasing its use of solar power. However, it does not expect to achieve net-zero emissions until 2050, in line with peers heavily reliant on coal. The company has undergone a business review that ended in March 2024. As a result, it has increased its asset disposals. In 2023 and 2024, the company sold or has agreed to sell its LNG operations, three gas distribution companies, and an interest in its Virginia wind farm. These divestitures follow the sale of pipeline operations in 2022. Dominion's market cap is $40.3 billion, and the stock is a component of the S&P 500.
RatingNeutralPrice TargetMarket Digest: D, HRL
The trading week that ended March 22 featured (yet again) all-time highs, with the weekly winning streak for the S&P 500 (SPX) continuing. The SPX has moved higher in 17 out of 21 weeks, with a 27% gain during that period. The Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) and the Nasdaq are also 17 out of 21, soaring 30%. The S&P 400 prints the same story, with a 29% pop. Index price volatility is almost undetectable, although there has been some decent volatility, both up and down, among individual stocks. We saw one day of strong breadth on Wednesday of that week and one weak day on Friday.
