Rob Refsnyder

BOS Left Fielder #30

Red Sox activated Rob Refsnyder from the 10-day injured list.

Refsnyder will join the Red Sox after starting the regular season on the injured list. The plan was for the 33-year-old to get reps at first base, but now that the team placed Tyler O’Neill on the 7-day IL, Refsnyder will likely play his primary position in the outfield.
Tyler O'Neill

BOS Right Fielder #17

Red Sox placed Tyler O’Neill on the 7-day injured list, retroactive to April 16, with a concussion.

Despite O’Neill clearing concussion tests, the 28-year-old still needs to get back into baseball activities before he can return to action. He’ll be sidelined for at least the next weeks while he recovers from a nasty collision with Rafael Devers during Monday’s game against the Guardians.
Rafael Devers

BOS Third Baseman #11

Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters that Rafael Devers (knee) is getting an MRI.

Cora said that the MRI is more for peace of mind than anything else, but an MRI is still an MRI. He added that Devers wasn’t feeling great and had trouble staying on his leg on Wednesday. The 27-year-old was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Guardians when he experienced discomfort in his left knee. We’ll have to wait and see if the MRI revels anything significant, but it adds to the laundry list of injuries the Red Sox are dealing with earlier on this season.
Cooper Criswell

BOS Starting Pitcher #64

Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora confirmed Wednesday that Cooper Criswell will work bulk innings on Thursday against the Guardians.

Brennan Bernardino will function as an opener in front of him. Criswell pitched well in his last outing against the Angels on Saturday, allowing two runs over four innings in a no-decision. He’s probably best avoided for fantasy purposes.
Connor Wong

BOS Catcher #12

Connor Wong went 2-for-3 with a solo homer to lead the Red Sox to a 2-0 win over the Guardians on Wednesday.

Wong had the team’s only RBI in the low-scoring affair. After a run scored on a balk in the third inning, he took Ben Lively deep for a solo homer in the fourth to extend the Boston lead. It was the third home run of the season for Wong and third consecutive multi-hit game. The 27-year-old backstop is slashing .382/.371/.676 across 35 plate appearances. After starting the season on the short-side of a platoon, it seems his bat has earned him more playing time against right-handed pitching.
Tanner Houck

BOS Starting Pitcher #89

Tanner Houck struck out nine batters over nine scoreless innings in a complete game shutout win over the Guardians.

Houck was incredible Wednesday against the Guardians. He faced just two batters over the minimum, scattering three base hits with no walks. Houck had his slider working, generating 11 whiffs on the pitch and 19 total to strike out nine batters. The 27-year-old right-hander will look to build on the dominant performance when he takes a 1.35 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and a 28/2 K/BB ratio across 26 2/3 innings into a rematch against the Guardians in Cleveland next week.
Tyler O'Neill

BOS Right Fielder #17

Red Sox manager Alex Cora noted Wednesday that Tyler O’Neill (concussion) may not return to the lineup on Thursday.

The 28-year-old outfielder is doing okay according to Cora, and while he has passed all of his concussion tests, he has yet to do any baseball activities. It’s possible that he could wake up on Thursday feeling great, have a good workout and talk his way into the lineup, but it sounds like he may wind up missing another couple of games. It’s a situation that fantasy managers should continue to monitor.
Tyler O'Neill

BOS Right Fielder #17

As expected, Tyler O’Neill (concussion) remains out of the Red Sox’ starting lineup for Wednesday’s contest against the Guardians.

Red Sox’ skipper Alex Cora told reporters on Tuesday that O’Neill would miss a couple of games, so this doesn’t come as a surprise. He did clear the concussion protocol on Tuesday though after a scary collision with teammate Rafael Devers on Monday and could even return to the lineup for Thursday’s series finale. Wilyer Abreu will start in his place in right field and bat cleanup against Ben Lively and the Guardians on Wednesday evening.
Rafael Devers

BOS Third Baseman #11

Rafael Devers (knee) returned to the Red Sox’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s battle against the Guardians.

The 27-year-old superstar was pulled from Tuesday’s game due to left knee discomfort, but it appears to have been only a minor issue. On the season, Devers is hitting .205/.352/.409 with a pair of homers and five RBI through his first 54 plate appearances across 12 games.
Joe Jacques

BOS Relief Pitcher #78

Red Sox recalled LHP Joe Jacques from Triple-A Worcester.

The 29-year-old southpaw made 23 appearances (one start) for the Red Sox during the 2023 campaign, posting a 5.06 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and a 20/10 K/BB ratio. He’ll add a fresh arm to the bullpen for at least a few days with Garrett Whitlock (oblique) heading to the injured list and will give manager Alex Cora another weapon to deploy in the middle innings.
