Jordan Walker

STL Right Fielder #18

Jordan Walker doubled twice for Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.

Walker is in another home run drought now after hitting four — his only four of the season — in June, but both doubles yesterday were quality shots, traveling a projected 373 and 379 feet. Walker is batting .238/.302/.367 through 63 games for Memphis
Matthew Liberatore

STL Relief Pitcher #52

Matthew Liberatore allowed five runs on four hits in three innings against the Pirates on Wednesday.

The left-hander allowed two extra-base hits including a solo shot to Rowdy Tellez. Liberatore induced eight whiffs on 30 swings for a 27 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW. He doesn’t figure to remain in the rotation and should be off fantasy radars.
Nolan Gorman

STL Second Baseman #16

Nolan Gorman is not in the starting lineup for the Cardinals on Wednesday.

With the Cardinals facing left-hander Martin Perez, Gorman will head to the bench. The 24-year-old has shown plus power this season but continues to swing and miss at a high rate and is in danger of seeing his batting average dip below .200; however, if you need home runs, he should be a good source of that in all formats. Brendan Donovan will move to second base on Wednesday with Dylan Carlson starting in the outfield.
Matthew Liberatore

STL Relief Pitcher #52

Matthew Liberatore will start on Wednesday against the Pirates.

Liberatore will be making his first start since back in late June when he struck out eight over six shutout innings in a spot start against the Braves. The 24-year-old former top pitching prospect is unlikely to work more than a handful of innings to open the contest, which limits any sort of streaming appeal for fantasy purposes.
Ryan Helsley

STL Relief Pitcher #56

Ryan Helsley struck out three batters in a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 2-1 win over the Pirates on Tuesday.

Helsley now has a league-leading 33 saves to go along with a 2.25 ERA in what has been a breakout season for the flamethrower. He didn’t seem impacted by the hip issue that was reported over the All-Star break and he figures to remain a key fantasy asset with the Cardinals now in the thick of the playoff race.
Nolan Arenado

STL Third Baseman #28

Nolan Arenado went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a win over the Pirates.

It was Arenado’s 10th home run on the season in what has been a disappointing year for the veteran. Still, he was able to turn on a pitch from Skenes and hit it 385 feet at 102.7 mph for the solo shot. His presence every day in the middle of the Cardinals’ lineup makes it worth holding onto him in deeper formats, even though he may be on the downswing of his career.
Lance Lynn

STL Starting Pitcher #31

Lance Lynn threw five shutout innings in a win over the Pirates on Tuesday, allowing just four hits.

Lynn did walk three and strike out two, but he allowed just one extra-base hit and kept the Pirates off the barrel all night, giving up an average exit velocity of just 84.6 mph. That came with just a 19 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW, so it wasn’t a dominant outing, but he got the job done and lowered his ERA to 4.17 heading into a tough start next week against the Rangers.
Nolan Gorman

STL Second Baseman #16

Nolan Gorman crushed a solo homer on Monday in the Cardinals’ loss to the Pirates.

Gorman supplied St. Louis’ lone run during a low-scoring affair at PNC Park by walloping a fifth-inning solo shot just inside the right-field foul pole off Pirates starter Mitch Keller. It was his 19th round-tripper of the season and lone hit in four at-bats. The 24-year-old slugging second baseman boasts a lackluster .206 batting average this season, but the fact that he’s probably going to wind up eclipsing the 30-homer threshold makes him a mixed-league relevant fantasy contributor, even if he’s merely a power plus counting stats source.
Andre Pallante

STL Relief Pitcher #53

Andre Pallante gave up one run over six innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Pirates.

Pallante surrendered a run-scoring single to Oneil Cruz in the third inning, which accounted for all of the damage against him over six solid frames. The 25-year-old righty has done an admirable job this season for the Cardinals in a variety of role, posting a solid 3.92 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 44/21 K/BB ratio across 57 1/3 innings (18 appearances, nine starts) as a versatile swingman. He’s in line to face the Rangers on Monday in his next outing.
Alec Burleson

STL Right Fielder #41

Alec Burleson went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in a 6-2 win over the Braves on Sunday.

The 25-year-old just continues to produce. He’s now up to 18 home runs and 59 RBI on the season while hitting .294./.324/.500. He has emerged as an everyday player in St. Louis and should be started in all fantasy formats right now.
