Brandon Lowe

TB Second Baseman #8

Brandon Lowe had a two-run homer and a double in the Rays’ 6-4 win over the Cardinals on Thursday.

There weren’t really any trade rumors involving Lowe before the deadline, but he would have been a great pickup for some team. He’s all of the way up to .265/.348/.527 now, and his $10.5 million option for 2025 looks like a lock to be picked up, even if the Rays might revisit the idea of trading him in the offseason.
Shane Baz

TB Starting Pitcher #11

Shane Baz surrendered four runs in 4 1/3 innings Thursday in a no-decision versus the Cardinals.

Baz gave up three runs after issuing a walk and hitting a batter in the first. He was fine afterwards, and the Rays did eventually make their way back, but this still doesn’t really go down as a positive outing for Baz. He’s still winless with a 4.30 ERA through six starts. That said, we’d keep playing him in mixed leagues.
Pete Fairbanks

TB Relief Pitcher #29

Pete Fairbanks turned in a perfect ninth with a two-run lead for a save Thursday against the Cardinals.

Fairbanks has allowed just one hit while throwing scoreless innings in his last six appearances. His current 2.88 ERA is his lowest mark since he gave up a run in his second appearance of the year on Apr. 2.
Josh Lowe

TB Right Fielder #15

Josh Lowe was removed from Thursday’s game against the Cardinals with a right knee contusion.

The positive news here is that X-rays came back negative for any fractures after Lowe fouled a ball off his right knee during his lone at-bat of the contest in the opening frame. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. The 26-year-old corner outfielder has been snake-bitten by injuries this season, but appears to have dodged an extended absence here. He’ll probably require some extra time off to rest and recover until the swelling goes down, but is unlikely to require a trip to the injured list.
Josh Lowe

TB Right Fielder #15

Josh Lowe left Thursday’s game against the Cardinals after fouling a ball off his lower right leg.

Lowe can’t seem to catch a break this season as he’s been limited to just 59 contests due to injury. The 26-year-old power/speed combo outfielder was replaced by rookie Kameron Misner in left field in the bottom of the opening frame after striking out in his lone at-bat. He’s presumably headed for X-rays to determine the severity of the issue. There should be an update on his status shortly.
Richard Lovelady

TB Relief Pitcher #55

Rays activated LHP Richard Lovelady from the 15-day injured list.

Lovelady returns to Tampa Bay’s bullpen for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals following a two-month absence recovering from a left forearm flexor strain. The 29-year-old southpaw holds a lackluster 7.36 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 6/1 K/BB ratio across 7 1/3 innings (eight appearances) this season for the Rays.
Hunter Bigge

TB Relief Pitcher #43

Rays optioned RHP Hunter Bigge to Triple-A Durham.

Bigge has tossed four scoreless innings over four appearances for Tampa Bay after being picked up earlier this month from the Cubs at the trade deadline as part of the Isaac Paredes haul. The 26-year-old has minor league options left, so he was the easy move to get southpaw Richard Lovelady back from the injured list.
Josh Lowe

TB Right Fielder #15

Josh Lowe went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored on Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Lowe’s double was the Rays’ only extra-base hit as they were stifled by Erick Fedde and the Cardinals’ strong bullpen. Both of his hits were hit harder than 106 MPH as he tries to find his footing in the final third of what’s been a forgettable season.
Taj Bradley

TB Starting Pitcher #45

Taj Bradley allowed nine hits and five earned runs in just 4 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a loss against the Cardinals.

Bradley did not have his best command in this start. The Cardinals smacked 11 hard-hit balls, almost all against his fastball, and put traffic on the bases in every inning because that fastball wound up in the heart of the plate far too often. Bradley usually elevates it higher in the zone, but couldn’t execute with it here. His three strikeouts tied the fewest he’s had in any start this season as this was a game to forget.
Drew Rasmussen

TB Starting Pitcher #57

Rays activated RHP Drew Rasmussen from the 60-day injured list.

Rasmussen is returning from Tommy John surgery as a reliever, which might have made him pretty interesting here if the Rays had traded Pete Fairbanks at the deadline. Since Fairbanks stuck around, saves seem like a long shot for Rasmussen. Still, he’ll probably be very effective once he settles in. He should go back into the rotation mix next spring.
