It’ll be a single-admission doubleheader beginning at 1:05 pm EDT. Cody Bradford and Carlos Rodón were scheduled to start tonight. They’ll presumably join Nathan Eovaldi and Gerrit Cole in starting Saturday.

Jeff Hoffman, who had been the favorite for saves of late, worked a scoreless seventh tonight. Estévez lost fantasy value with the trade from the Angels to the Phillies, but he would seem to be the current favorite for saves in a Phillies pen that will often deal with mixing and matching.

Guerrero’s triple was his first since 2021, but the cycle wasn’t meant to be. He now has 23 homers and 76 RBI in 114 games on the season. His season OPS is all of the way up to .945, which is pretty incredible for someone who was such a disappointment initially. He was still under .800 at .799 as recently as July 13.

Boone added that Volpe is day-to-day with a left foot contusion following an early exit from Thursday one-sided loss to the Angels after fouling a ball off himself in the early stages of the contest. The positive news here is that Volpe doesn’t appear to be dealing with anything serious that would require a lengthy absence. He’ll likely wind up sitting out at least Friday’s series opener against the Rangers to rest and recover, but should be ready to return at some point over the weekend.

Friedl laced a first-inning solo home run off Kyle Tyler in the first inning for his seventh home run of the year and later followed with a two-run single in the third. After starting off the season as the Reds’ lead-off hitter, Friedl has seemingly settled in as an unconventional clean-up hitter. The speed-first 28-year-old is still slashing just .226/.325/.401 in his injury-plagued season and is hitting just 10-for-40 (.250) in 13 games since the All-Star break with three home runs and no steals. He also has just six steals on the season, so perhaps the multitude of injuries has impacted how much the Reds are willing to let him run. That would be a big knock to his fantasy value.

It wasn’t an electric performance from Edwards, but it’s a perfect example of the consistency he’s shown since becoming the starting shortstop for the Marlins. The former Tampa Bay Rays prospect is now hitting .375/.443/.461 in 35 games for the Marlins with 13 steals. He’s a solid source of steals and batting average for the remainder of the season.

Despite dreadful weather conditions in this one, Neto stayed sizzling-hot at the dish with a three-hit performance that also included an eighth-inning RBI double. The 23-year-old emerging fantasy stalwart launched two homers and tallied eight RBI during Wednesday’s twin bill at Yankee Stadium and is batting .313 (31-for-99) with five homers, 22 RBI and nine steals over his last 30 games. He has 16 homers and 25 steals through 112 games. That’ll do.

Buehler looked a bit sharper on Thursday night in his final rehab outing before returning to Los Angeles’ starting rotation mix. He gave up only one hit, struck out five and issued three walks. The 30-year-old righty hasn’t looked like his former self in a couple outings for the Dodgers so far, so the hope is that the extended run in the minors over the last few weeks was enough to help turn things around. He should be ready to take the ball early next week for Los Angeles.

Jones recorded three strikeouts, only handed out one free pass and threw 47 pitches (30 strikes). The electrifying 22-year-old rookie right-hander is going to need a couple additional rehab outings to continue building up his pitch count and stamina, but he appears on track to rejoin Pittsburgh’s starting rotation by the end of August.

The positive news here is that X-rays came back negative for any fractures after Lowe fouled a ball off his right knee during his lone at-bat of the contest in the opening frame. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. The 26-year-old corner outfielder has been snake-bitten by injuries this season, but appears to have dodged an extended absence here. He’ll probably require some extra time off to rest and recover until the swelling goes down, but is unlikely to require a trip to the injured list.
