    History and Celebration Part of Annual Labor Day Events

    Every Labor Day weekend marks a special time for reflection and celebration by Cherokees. The Cherokee National Holiday recognizes the 1839 signing of the Cherokee Nation Constitution, which formally established our government in Indian Territory. This year, the Cherokee Nation has an additional reason to commemorate our collective history.

    Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Suspends His Presidential Bid, Endorses Trump

    Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who was running for president as an Independent, announced on Friday afternoon at a news conference in Arizona that he has suspended his presidential campaign. Kennedy said he met with Trump and his aides several times and learned they agreed on issues like border security, free speech and ending wars. Kennedy said he would remove his name from the ballot in 10 battleground states likely to determine the outcome of the election but would remain as a candidate in other states.

    National Indian Health Board Terminates CEO, Announces Interim

    Stacy Bohlen, a citizen of the Sault Ste Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, has been terminated as the CEO of the National Indian Health Board (NIHB), the organization announced yesterday. In a press release, the NIHB stated that its Board lost faith in Boheln’s ability to lead the organization and named A.C. Locklear, Lumbee, Interim CEO. “My fellow directors and I are deeply invested in the success of NIHB—for our Tribes and for our People,” William “Chief Bill” Smith, NIHB Chairman and Valdez Native, said in a press release.
