Michael Conforto

SF Right Fielder #8

Michael Conforto was scratched from Tuesday’s lineup.

No word yet on the reason for the move. It’ll be Jerar Encarnacion taking over at designated hitter on Tuesday evening against the Diamondbacks.
Austin Wells

NYY Catcher #28

Austin Wells is day-to-day with a hand contusion.

The positive news here is that X-rays came back negative. Wells is out of the lineup on Tuesday night after being hit by a pitch during Monday’s contest against the Rangers. The 25-year-old backstop is unlikely to miss too much additional time. It’ll be Jose Trevino handling the catching duties in his absence.
Clarke Schmidt

NYY Starting Pitcher #36

Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed that Clarke Schmidt will return this weekend.

Schmidt, who has been on the shelf since late May recovering from a right lat strain, will make his return to New York’s pitching mix this weekend against the Cubs.
Marco Luciano

SF Shortstop #37

Giants recalled INF Marco Luciano from Triple-A Sacramento.

Luciano has struggled to find his footing at the highest level, batting .22/.333/.357 with zero homers and one steal in 93 plate appearances over the last two seasons. The 22-year-old former top prospect hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire at the Triple-A level either, but the Giants are going to give him another shot in a backup role beind Tyler Fitzgerald. His path to regular at-bats is probably cleared at second base instead of shortstop.
Luis Matos

SF Center Fielder #29

Giants recalled OF Luis Matos from Triple-A Sacramento.

Matos will head to San Francisco to occupy a bench role for the home stretch of the regular season. There isn’t much of a path to regular at-bats moving forward, which extinguishes any hope of him making a significant fantasy impact.
Casey Schmitt

SF Third Baseman #10

Giants optioned INF Casey Schmitt to Triple-A Sacramento.

San Francisco is going to roll with former top prospect Marco Luciano in a reserve roll over Schmitt for the foreseeable future.
Blake Sabol

SF Catcher #21

Giants optioned C/OF Blake Sabol to Triple-A Sacramento.

Sabol was brought up over the weekend, but the Giants have decided to change course and no longer will carry three catchers on their active roster.
Christian Walker

ARI First Baseman #53

Diamondbacks activated 1B Christian Walker from the 10-day injured list.

Walker returns to Arizona’s lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Giants following a five-week absence recovering from a left oblique strain. The 33-year-old slugging first baseman’s return should provide a lift for fantasy managers heading towards the playoffs as he rejoins arguably the hottest lineup in baseball at the moment.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

ARI Left Fielder #12

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to September 2, with a left calf strain.

Gurriel winds up landing on the shelf just a couple days after leaving Sunday’s contest against the Dodgers with calf tightness. No word yet on how much time he’s going to wind up missing, but there should be some clarity on his status in the coming days.
Corey Seager

TEX Shortstop #5

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters Corey Seager will have his workload managed for the rest of the season.

Bochy added Seager isn’t 100 percent at this stage of the season, which isn’t a surprise. While he didn’t elaborate on a specific plan moving forward, we’re fully anticipating the 30-year-old fantasy superstar getting some additional maintenance days off down the home stretch, especially with the Rangers fading from postseason contention. It’s a tough break for fantasy managers heading towards the playoffs as they’ll likely be without one of their main contributors at key moments. Our best advice here for fantasy purposes involves rostering an additional viable shortstop, just in case, to fill in down the home stretch as needed.
