Jalen Nailor

MIN Wide Receiver #83

Jalen Nailor caught 3-of-4 targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings’ Week 2 win against the 49ers.

It’s the second straight game for Nailor with a touchdown to start the season. He operated as Minnesota’s No. 2 receiver with Jordan Addison sidelined with an ankle injury he sustained last week. Nailor will continue as the team’s WR2 in Week 3 against the Texans if Addison remains out.
Johnny Mundt

MIN Tight End #86

Johnny Mundt caught 2-of-3 targets for 12 yards in the Vikings’ Week 2 win against the 49ers.

Mundt ran a route on 26 of Sam Darnold’s 31 drop backs, taking over the pass-catching role after splitting duties with Josh Oliver in Week 1 against the Giants. Oliver logged just eight routes in Week 2. Until TJ Hockenson returns from injury, it appears Mundt is the Vikings’ primary pass-catching tight end.
Ty Chandler

MIN Running Back #32

Ty Chandler had ten rushes for 82 yards in the Vikings’ Week 2 win against the 49ers.

Chandler out-rushed Aaron Jones 82 to 32 yards on the day, but lost out to Jones on pass-catching duties. Chandler looked spry and explosive on his ten attempts, ripping off a 25-yarder in the fourth quarter as the Vikings bled the clock with a lead. Chandler may have played his way into a shared backfield ahead of the team’s Week 3 matchup with Houston.
Aaron Jones

MIN Running Back #33

Aaron Jones had nine rushes for 32 yards in the Vikings’ Week 2 win against the 49ers, adding five catches for 36 yards.

Jones struggled to get anything going against a stout Niners defense, and fumbled at the two yard line on a catch and run late in the third quarter. He ceded control of the Minnesota backfield to Ty Chandler, who had ten rushes for 82 yards on the day. Jones was dinged up in the second half, perhaps forcing the Vikings to give more playing time to Chandler. As long as he continues dominating pass routes and backfield targets, Jones should be a solid-enough fantasy option in Week 3 against the Texans.
Sam Darnold

MIN Quarterback #14

Sam Darnold completed 17-of-26 attempts for 268 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the Vikings’ Week 2 win against the 49ers, adding five rushes for 32 yards.

Darnold was once again solid if not spectacular as the Vikings’ starter. He made safe throws throughout, and hit Justin Jefferson on a gorgeous deep ball for a 97-yard score in the first half. Darnold demonstrated some mobility too with 32 yards on the ground. Darnold is a fine caretaker of a pass-first Vikings offense, and should be treated as a fantasy starter in deeper formats next week against the Texans in what could be a back-and-forth affair.
Justin Jefferson

MIN Wide Receiver #18

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said Justin Jefferson (quad) is considered day to day.

Jefferson was helped to the locker room in the fourth quarter of the Vikings’ win against the 49ers and did not return to the game. He got tangled up with several defenders while run blocking for Ty Chandler and appeared to be in severe pain. “I’m not seriously injured. So that’s the main important thing,” Jefferson said after the game. “So it’s just all about getting to the training room, making sure my body is right for next week and I’ll be ready to go next Sunday.” Jefferson’s practice participation will be worth monitoring ahead of Minnesota’s Week 3 game against the Texans.
Justin Jefferson

MIN Wide Receiver #18

Justin Jefferson exited Week 2’s game against the 49ers with a quad injury.

Jefferson got tangled up with a few players as he blocked on a rushing play in the third quarter. He was helped off the field while sporting a heavy limp. Jefferson had four catches for 138 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game. He’s questionable to return.
Jordan Addison

MIN Wide Receiver #3

Vikings declared Jordan Addison, Fabian Moreau, Dwight McGlothern, Levi Drake, Rodriguez Jalen, and Redmond Walter Rouse inactive for Week 2 against the 49ers.

Addison, who was injured on a hip drop tackle in Week 1, was declared out on Friday after missing practice all week. He could miss more time with the injury. For now, Jalen Nailor should run as the Vikings’ No. 2 wideout behind Justin Jefferson.
Jordan Addison

MIN Wide Receiver #3

Vikings WR Jordan Addison (ankle) will not play in Week 2 against the 49ers.

Addison’s second NFL season is off to a brutal start, having already sprained both ankles. Jalen Nailor can be deployed as a deep-league flex option, though the third-year receiver remains a largely unproven player.
Jordan Addison

MIN Wide Receiver #3

Jordan Addison is not practicing Thursday ahead of a Week 2 contest against the 49ers.

Addison also didn’t practice Wednesday as he deals with what is being described as “significant” soreness in his right ankle. The wideout was able to play through the injury in Week 1, but it appears that isn’t going to help him out this week. With Addison likely to miss the contest against San Francisco, Jalen Nailor will be the second wideout behind stalwart Justin Jefferson.
