Here's what I care and don't care about coming out of Lions 26 Texans 23 Sunday night football.
What a weird game.
That was the thing we care about here is that the Lions remind us that contending isn't always pretty and yes, I still come away from this game after five, Jared Goff picks thinking that the Lions are one of the contenders for this year's Super Bowl.
And the reason I feel that way is because the Lions are a complete team.
If they aren't a complete team, they don't win this game.
End of story, they don't get a position to kick that game winning field goal.
They don't pick off CJ Stroud twice.
They don't get the running game going in the second half and Jared Goff and Amman Rasa Brown don't start connecting on critical down and distance situations.
That complete team that gritty ugly team has kind of made them a bit of an up and down fantasy operation.
But who cares about that.
Uh What matters is that the Lions are winning games in real life and they continue to show that they're one of the best in the NFL A team with a resolve like that.
Yeah, that's one of the best operations in the NFL.
Now, the thing we don't care about, we don't really care about Joe Mixon's 1.8 yards per carry because this is an outlier performance for Joe Mixon and it kind of goes back to what I was just talking about the Detroit Lions.
The Lions are a complete team.
They're not that same defense as you can just get whatever you want against.
In fact, since week six, their top two defense in EPA per play allowed overall and they're a top 10 rushing team in terms of rushing success rate.
So I think Joe Mixon getting shut down in this game has more to do with the Lions being a great and really underrated defense.
That's getting Zadar Smith next week and less to do with Joe Mixon or something going on with the Texans run game.
So no real issues there.
The overall issue for Houston is we got to get CJ Strout back on track, but I think part of that can be a really good run game, which overall I still have faith that the Texans can be that type of rushing team.
