Kansas State basketball vs St. John's recap: Second-half blitz buries Wildcats, 88-71
The Red Storm took Kansas State basketball by storm.
St. John's started the second period with a 12-3 run to erase a four-point deficit Saturday and rolled to a 88-71 victory over the Wildcats at Carnesecca Arena in Queens, New York.
The Red Storm (7-2) dominated the second half, led career highs of 28 points and 13 rebounds from former Kansas forward Zuby Ejiofor. Kadary Richmond added 13 points, RJ Luis and Simeon Wilcher scoring 11 each.
For K-State (6-3), Brendan Hausen had also had a career high with 27 points, but 21 came in the first half in leading the Wildcats to a 39-35 advantage at the break. David N'Guessan added 15 points and seven rebounds and Brendan Hawkins 11 with nine boards.
Each team had 24 rebounds in the first half, but St. John's took charge of the boards in the second half to finish with a 51-40 advantage for the game.
K-State now is off for 10 days before taking on Drake on Dec. 17 at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.

St. John's dominates the second half after trailing by four at intermission and pounds Kansas State, 88-71.
The Wildcats fall to 6-3, while St. John's improves to 7-2. Brendan Hausen a career high 27 points for K-State and Zuby Ejiofor career bests of 28 points and 13 rebounds for St. John's.

Wildcats can't make a dent in St. John's lead
St. John's leads 78-64 at the final media timeout with 3:55 left and Kadary Richmond has a chance at a three-point play.
St. John's has made 9 of 10 free throws in the second half to 5 of 10 for K-State and has outscored the Wildcats 14-6 from the line for the game.
St. John's dominating the boards
St. John's leads K-State 72-57 with 7:21 left. The Red Storm shooting 63.6% and outrebounding the Wildcats in the half, 17-6. Zuby Ejiofor with 28 points and 13 rebounds.
K-State's struggles continue
St. John's leads 59-50 at the 11:29 media timeout. St. John's shooting 62.5% to 33 for K-State in the half and has outrebounded the Wildcats, 12-4. Red Storm has outscored the Wildcats in the half, 24-11.
Kansas State burns another timeout
Coleman Hawkins stumbles and has to call timeout to maintain possession with K-State trailing 53-46 at the 14:08 mark. The Wildcats have just one timeout left.

St. John's has scored six straight and is on a 12-2 run to lead 53-44 and forcing Jerome Tang to call timeout with 15:13 left. The Red Storm is 7 of 10 with two 3-pointers in the half, while K-State is 2 of 8.
Transition, 3-point shooting the difference so far
With Brendan Hausen knocking down 6 of 8 3-point attempts, K-State is 8-for-15 for 53.3% beyond the arc at halftime, to 4 of 13 for St. John's. The other big difference is the Wildcats 10-2 advantage in fast-break points, typically a strength for St. John's.
Hausen's 21 points are just one short of his career-high 22 against Cleveland State earlier this year. The Wildcats also are holding their own on the boards at 24-24, led by Coleman Hawkins with eight.
For St. John's former Kansas Jayhawk Zuby Ejiofor has 11 points and six rebounds.

Back comes the Red Storm
St. John's reels off seven straight, and Zuby Ejiofor has a chance to complete a three-point play after the 3:42 media timeout. K-State lead is down to 31-28.
Wildcats pouring it on
Since St. John's took its only lead, K-State has gone on a 14-2 run and leads 31-21 with 5:35 left in the half. Brendan Hausen has 18 points.
