Quick overview
Best moving companies in Melbourne, Fla.
1) Green Team Logistics
With hundreds of positive reviews from both Yelp and Google, Green Team Logistics is our top pick for the best moving company in Melbourne. Praised for its communication, work ethic and fast yet smooth moving services, Green Team Logistics is worth looking into for all your residential or commercial moving needs. It supports both local and long-distance moves up to 500 miles, such as to Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, southern North Carolina, and some of Mississippi.
Green Team Logistics is a veteran-owned, interstate moving company originally called "Dependable Deliveries," which opened in 2005. Tracy Kai, Green Team Logistics owner, bought Dependable Deliveries in 2022. One year later, Kai changed the company’s name to Green Team Logistics because it wanted to approach the moving industry with a more sustainable consciousness. Green Team Logistics is known for its extraordinary customer service and reliable moving services, which include packing, unpacking and placing boxes wherever you want them.
We spoke to Steven Petry, marketing director of Green Team Logistics. "Our biggest edge is that we are an eco-moving company,” with a focus on using reusable moving equipment, Petry said. “We proudly use durable, industrial-grade plastic totes instead of cardboard, which we also offer for free.” This is unique and valuable, in our experience, because the best reusable plastic moving boxes aren't always cheap.
Petry’s dog Leia is often in the office to greet customers and coax them into a game of fetch. Green Team Logistics also takes donations from customers and is currently trying to partner with a non-profit organization to take donations for those in need.
For rates, Green Team Logistics charges $80 per hour per mover, so a standard team of three movers would cost $240 per hour. A two-hour minimum exits for all moving jobs, and the company charges a travel fee of $69 anywhere in Brevard. Anywhere outside of Brevard is $1 extra per mile. There is also a $10 security deposit for the plastic totes, which is returned when the totes are returned. All that means you'll pay at least $789 for a three-mover job without box rentals.
Green Team Logistics charges a deposit for one hour of services, so the deposit price is based on the number of movers needed for the job. For example, if three movers are needed, then the deposit will be $240. Deposits are refundable as long as customers do not cancel last minute. “If our team drives there and they cancel upon arrival, they would not be refunded, simply to cover the truck fees and time for driving and labor,” says Petry.
The Green Team made me feel comfortable and safe with my belongings. They offer better alternatives, I don’t have to worry about cardboard boxes in my garage forever. They made me laugh and feel comfortable. The process was easy, I will definitely use them again for any moving needs. I recommend checking them out! - Rissa C., Google Reviews (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)
All Green Team Logistics employees receive background checks. To be a team lead, they go through a U.S. DoT screening, which also includes a drug test, vision test and physical.

Melbourne moving FAQs
What info should you have when requesting a moving estimate?
When you call movers for estimates on the cost of your move, you should have a few key pieces of information ready. First and foremost, you should know the address and ZIP code of the addresses you are moving to and from. If a mover charges travel fees, this helps it determine what that fee may be.
You will also want to know the square footage and home type, such as if it’s an apartment or single-family home, at both ends of the move. Essentially, the more information the moving company has, the more accurate the estimate will be. It will also help them determine the size of the truck required, how many movers you'll need and how long it will take.
If you want to buy supplies or have your movers help unpack, pack or bring items to a storage unit, those pieces of information are important to mention.
What’s different about condo and apartment moving in Melbourne?
If you are moving to or from a condo or apartment, you may want to reach out to your property manager to inquire about or schedule a time to use the elevator. Of course, this depends on what floor you’re on or if an elevator exists. Scheduling ahead of time will help the moving company plan for a smooth and efficient move.
What should you know about storage in Melbourne?
If you plan on storing your belongings in a storage unit, you want to make sure that you protect them from heat and humidity. To do this, choose a storage unit that is climate-controlled to keep your boxes dry and cool. This will prevent mold or damage in the area's humid climate.
Do you need moving permits or licenses to move in Melbourne?
No, you do not need a permit to move to or from Melbourne. However, the moving company you work with must be licensed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. For more information, check out our full guide to moving licenses and permits in Florida.
How much should you tip movers in Melbourne?

As a general rule, anything between 10% and 20% of the overall moving cost is a reasonable amount to tip the movers. You may be able to tip on the final bill, or you could just hand the movers cash.
