Some months ago here, I joked that the the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report would become a classified document. Seems satire is becoming reality.
Fact. I read my wife The Onion headlines and ask her if it's a real one or the onion... It's a coin flip of she can pick out the fake 🫤

BEACON is a weekly email from Boston University's Center on Emerging Infectious Diseases that you can subscribe to. It lists bio threats in various countries. It is not meant as a replacement for MMWR info, but it is interesting to see what is happening in other countries (events in the US are included). It has the advantage of not being a Federal Government funded organization. subscribe.beaconbio.org

It’s worth noting that this is a non peer reviewed newsletter which in the past would publish high school level work. During Covid, it was famous for publishing studies that claimed masks work by showing how a mask mandate sent cases down in one jurisdiction while retroactively cherry picking a comparator jurisdiction from hundreds of choices in order to find one that didn’t implement a mandate and had cases go up. Of course people on the other side could just as easily cherry pick a place with no mandate where cases went down, so this kind of ‘evidence’ is completely useless.

MMWR was definitely in need of serious reform. I don’t know whether RFK is the guy to do that, but to pretend it was working just fine under Biden is wrong.
Sources to back that up?

For starters, RFK Jr. is first on the list of folks who should be impeached. Well, maybe tied for first.
RFK Jr. is first on the list of folks who should be ... tied ... first ... to the top of Mitt Romney's station wagon?

More "penny-wise, pound-foolish" nonsense from the party in power, who always manage to find more expensive ways to do everything. And usually put money in their buddies'/owners' pockets while beggaring the rest of the country.

If and when the US falls behind in science and health care, and these idiots still claim that "The US is the greatest", they deserve to be pointed at and laughed at for their obvious lies and bull#$@!.
Most will be dead by that point and the ones who aren't will say, we didn't know or some other BS excuse.

There are actually many publication and web sites with similar info. However, MMWR had, by far, the most reach and thus was a world wide standard for emerging diseases. Especially among non disease specialists.

Unfortunately, we will see this play out over many parts of the US Federal Government. Areas of expertise, publications, repositories, conferences, post docs and many other parts of the scientific establishment will be ground up.

By the time Trump and RFK Jr. are finished, no one will trust the FDA, CDC, or HHS. Next administration will just need to nuke them from orbit, assuming it's someone sane.
In a few years republicans will point to these same agencies as examples of how the government can't do anything right, and their work needs to be privatized.

I get the anger, but at this point, I don’t care. If we have a fair election and the admin hands over power peacefully, they should be free to go screw-off into the sunset. The act of giving up power should be highly rewarded in politics.
If there is no punishment for all these acts, they simply become rehearsals for the next round of fascist takeover. The response to systematically disassembling the entire country at the expense of people's liveliyhood, health and life shouldn't be 'walk away with a fat taxpayer pension'.

Letting those in power get away with literally anything and everything is how you get people putting on shirts featuring a popular Nintendo character subtitled 'be the change'.

And every worthless bag of shit who voted for this administration is going to blame the other side when someone they care about gets sick and dies from something preventable.
Oh, they wont just do that, they’ll find a way to blame it on the very things that could have helped. It’ll be a continuation of things I’ve heard like “our mother didn't die of COV19, it was the vaccine from vaccine shedding from sheeple that got vaccinated!”

Noted environmentalist RFK jr is probably just trying to save the planet by reducing the number of us on it.
With his addiction to tanning beds, he's about the same color as Thanos. I'll bet he's just jealous Thanos had a stylish glove to accomplish the reduction of population where he's stuck with viruses he denies the existence of and pollution.

It's not "when". We're already behind other western countries in many metrics. We're behind on life expectancy, infant mortality rates, maternal mortality rates, and others.

These issues predate Trump, but the Trump administration is taking us to new lows at breathtaking speed.

EDIT: It's easy to find government sources to confirm these problems such as this document at the NIH.
