Fant’s free agent tour has already resulted in visits with the Bengals and Saints. Now the seven-year vet will meet with the Dolphins to figure out if there could be a fit in Mike McDaniel’s offense. Shortly after trading Jonnu Smith to the Steelers, the Dolphins went out and added an un-retired Darren Waller to the roster, but Waller is currently on the PUP list as he looks to ramp up for the season. Fant caught 47 passes for 500 yards and one touchdown with the Seahawks last season and has been a decent producer after the catch for much of his career. While there could be a fit here, it’s hard to know how much of a role could be available for him once Waller gets up to speed. No deal is imminent at this time.
  • MIA Tight End #12
Waller opened the season on the PUP list, but it sounds like the decision to sideline him early in camp is due more to conditioning than injury. Dolphins beat writer Marcel Louis-Jacques noted that while Waller is in good shape, the team is not trying to “trick us into thinking he’s in football shape.” Waller has reportedly been “very active” working with tight ends coach Jon Embree, so it’s possible his time on the PUP list could be short-lived.
  • The revised contract does not add any additional years to Fitzpatrick’s deal, which is good through the 2026 season. Instead, the veteran safety will have a $16.245 million signing bonus added to his deal, which agent Drew Rosenhaus said Fitzpatrick was “comfortable” with as they “continue to work with the Dolphins on a multi-year extension.” Fitzpatrick was acquired from the Steelers in the trade that sent Jonnu Smith and Jalen Ramsey to Pittsburgh. The 28-year-old safety should be in line for another big extension after totaling 96 tackles, one interception, and four pass breakups last season.
  • MIA Cornerback #21
The deal is for one year, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Hilton spent the first four years of his career with the Steelers and the last four with the Bengals. The 31-year-old safety started 23 games for the Bengals over the last two years. Hilton can also play nickel cornerback and could be used there with the Dolphins.
  • MIA Cornerback #30
Armstrong signed a reserve/future contract with the Raiders last offseason. He was cut at the end of training camp. His most recent NFL snaps came in Atlanta in 2023. Armstrong, originally a sixth-round pick for Miami in 2019, now returns home to help backfill the snaps vacated by Artie Burns’ season-ending knee injury.
  • MIA Cornerback #23
The Sun Sentinel’s David Furones has since confirmed that Burns tore his ACL in practice. The injury will sideline him for the entirety of the 2025 season. Burns signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins in the offseason to bolster their secondary. Burns bounced between the Seahawks’ practice squad and active roster last year and was set to compete for a rotational role in Miami. The injury and Jalen Ramsey trade leave Miami severely undermanned at corner. They could look to the free agent market for some depth.
  • MIA Tackle #79
Matos, 24, reportedly sustained a serious injury near the end of Wednesday’s training camp practice and was helicoptered to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. It’s a frightening situation. We’ll update Matos’ condition as the team offers updates on his condition.
  • MIA Tackle #60
He’ll be a potential stopgap solution on the interior line for Miami after stepping in much the same way with the Titans last year. In a corresponding move, Miami waived QB Brett Gabbert.
  • MIA Tight End #12
No word on what injury — if any — Waller is dealing with currently, but he was something of a magnet for injuries in his last few years in the NFL so it wouldn’t be a total surprise to see him have one now. He also may just be being brought along slowly after unretiring.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #10
“I want to see what it looks like when I just focus on football, on myself and family,” Hill told reporters on the first day of Dolphins training camp. “I feel like I haven’t given the best version of Tyreek my whole entire career.” It’s quite the admission for one of the most productive wideouts of the 21st century, and it speaks to Hill’s mercurial ways over much of his time as a pro, including his tenure with the Dolphins. Hill, 31, is entering 2025 after a down 2024 in which the five-time All-Pro selection caught 81 passes for 959 yards and six touchdowns, representing his lowest totals since joining the Dolphins in 2022. With Jonnu Smith out of the picture in Miami, Hill’s target numbers could get back to their 2022-2023 levels if he’s able to stay healthy following a wrist injury last season.
