Bones Hyland

MIN Guard #8

Personalize your Rotoworld feed by favoriting players

Bones Hyland led the Timberwolves with 18 points (5-of-8 FGs), three rebounds, three assists, one steal and three three-pointers in a 126-116 win over the Nuggets on Saturday.

Hyland signed with Minnesota just a few weeks prior to this game after closing last season on a two-way contract with them. He’s still looking to get a guaranteed deal, and this performance will certainly help his cause. However, even if he remains with them this season, he won’t play a large enough role to impact fantasy basketball.
Joan Beringer

MIN Center #19

Joan Beringer made his preseason debut on Saturday and finished with 14 points (6-of-8 FGs), four rebounds and one block against the Nuggets.

The rookie was one of the stars of summer league because of his defense, but he was able to make an offensive impact in his preseason debut. The rookie will play behind Rudy Gobert this year, but his long-term upside makes him worth hanging onto in dynasty formats.
Cameron Johnson

DEN Forward #23

Cameron Johnson made his Nuggets debut on Saturday and contributed just two points (1-of-3 FGs), one assist and one block in 15 minutes in a 126-116 loss to the Timberwolves.

Johnson was dealt to Denver as part of a trade that sent Michael Porter Jr. to Brooklyn this summer. His first action with his new team, albeit just the preseason, wasn’t exactly a performance to write home about. However, Johnson should fit in flawlessly with this squad that is looking to get back to the championship after being eliminated in the conference semifinals last season.
Jaime Jaquez

MIA Guard #11

Jaime Jaquez Jr. started on Saturday and finished with six points (2-of-7 FGs), four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one three-pointer against the Magic.

With Tyler Herro (ankle) set to miss time, the expectation was that Davion Mitchell would start at point guard until he returned. However, in Miami’s first preseason game, it was Jaquez that got the nod. Mitchell didn’t play, so it’s unclear if Jaquez will retain the role when he is available.
Nikola Jović

MIA Forward #5

Nikola Jovic got the start on Saturday and tallied 10 points (3-of-6 FGs), three rebounds, two assists, one block and one three-pointer in a 126-118 loss to the Magic.

Erik Spoelstra didn’t use his starters for long in this game, but Jovic was able to make a quick impact. Jovic, who got the starting nod over Kel’el Ware, could be in for a breakout season if he maintains that role. Ware contributed 10 points and nine rebounds off the bench, so the starting job will be an interesting storyline to watch throughout the preseason.
Noah Penda

ORL Forward #93

Noah Penda made his preseason debut on Saturday and contributed six points (2-of-5 FGs), two rebounds, one steal and one block against the Heat.

Penda didn’t check into his first game for Orlando until the second half. The second round pick has plenty of upside, but he likely will only play a small role for a contender in the East this year, making him worthy of a stash in dynasty leagues, but not much else.
Jase Richardson

ORL Guard #11

Jase Richardson made his preseason debut on Saturday and finished with 13 points (5-of-11 FGs), four rebounds, two assists, one steal and three three-pointers against the Heat.

The 25th pick this past summer, Richardson had some solid performances in summer league. Now, he was able to turn in another strong outing in his first preseason action. Richardson may be able to provide some decent minutes off the bench during his rookie year, but he isn’t going to be a consistent fantasy contributor.
Desmond Bane

ORL Guard #3

Desmond Bane made his Magic debut on Saturday and contributed nine points (3-of-7 FGs), six rebounds, three assists and one three-pointer in a 126-118 win over the Heat.

After spending the first five seasons of his career in Memphis, Bane was dealt to the Magic this summer, and this was his first opportunity to suit up for them. He only played 13 minutes like most of the other starters, but he’ll continue to be an excellent fantasy option despite the change of scenery, and he’ll provide Orlando with the best spacing they’ve had in a while.
Danny Wolf

BKN Forward-Center #2

Danny Wolf made his preseason debut on Saturday and finished with two points (2-of-4 FGs), five rebounds and five assists.

The first round pick didn’t play in the first half of his first preseason game with Brooklyn, which was certainly disappointing to see. He dished out five assists in limited action, and his passing ability was what made him an enticing prospect. He’ll get the chance to put it on display this season, though he may not be able to consistently contribute for fantasy managers.
Michael Porter

BKN Forward #17

Michael Porter Jr. finished with 13 points (5-of-9 FGs), five rebounds, four assists, one steal and two three-pointers in a 123-88 win on Saturday.

MPJ made his debut for the Nets after spending the last six years playing for the Nuggets. It was only a preseason game, but he was heavily involved on offense in just 17 minutes of playing time. He has been a reliable spacing wing for Denver, but he should see a huge bump in usage this season in Brooklyn.
