The 34 best FSA-approved products of 2025 — tested and recommended by Yahoo
Sunscreens, sleep aids, compression socks, pain-relief tools: Here are our editors' picks for the smartest ways to use your FSA dollars before the December 31 deadline.

Move over, Black Friday deals — FSA-spending season is here. If you've got Flexible Spending Account dollars sitting around, now's the time to spend them on FSA-approved items. What’s the rush, you ask? Most FSA balances vanish after December 31, going straight back to your employer, not your future self. That means this last-minute shopping spree is already paid for. No guilt, no abandoned carts — just smart spending before the FSA deadline.
“Many people don’t realize they’re already buying tons of FSA-eligible products without using their tax-free dollars,” says Rachel Rouleau, chief compliance officer at Health-E Commerce, parent brand to FSA Store and HSA Store. “According to our estimate, the average household spends $1,600 a year on items that qualify, including medicated facial cleansers, pimple patches, menstrual products and OTC meds.”
To help you make the most of your FSA dollars, we pulled together the best FSA-eligible products of 2025, all handpicked from our “Best Of” lists and tested by Yahoo editors, so you know you're getting the best of the best before your balance disappears.
Best FSA-eligible sunscreens and skin care products for 2025
You probably already know your FSA funds cover sunscreen (broad-spectrum, SPF 15+ only), but did you know acne treatments and barrier-repair creams can also be included in your pre-tax spend? It’s true! Here are the FSA- and Yahoo-approved buys you should definitely consider snagging before your funds run dry.
Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen is lightweight, fast-absorbing and has a non-greasy matte finish. Plus, its high-SPF has been shown to give better sunburn protection than lower SPF sunscreens. So many wins!
Nearly every dermatologist we spoke with recommended EltaMD's UV Sport Broad Spectrum SPF 50. This hybrid mineral-chemical sunscreen goes on smooth, stays put through sweat and never leaves a white cast.
Broad-spectrum, sweat-resistant for 80 minutes, fast-absorbing and gentle on the skin? Sold. As an added bonus, you can safely and effectively use Supergoop! PLAY Everyday Lotion SPF 50 on your body and face, making it an A+ vacation companion.
We’re not sure how Peter Thomas Roth Max Mineral Tinted water-resistant, broad-spectrum sunscreen SPF 40 managed to pull this off, but the tint works well for nearly every skin tone. Though if you consider yourself "the fairest of them all," this might be a touch too dark for you.
The internet-famous CosRX Hydrocolloid Pimple Patches flatten and calm zits overnight. Reviewers call them the “gold standard” for whiteheads and small surface pimples — and after extensive testing, Yahoo editors agree.
PS: These pimple patches are not always marked FSA-eligible on Amazon, Target and Walmart, but they are! Simply buy through the FSA store instead.
Here, Yahoo editors turned to dermatologists for their top picks and — drum roll please — they raved about CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream. Its hyaluronic acid keeps skin hydrated, the ceramides help protect the skin barrier and the niacinamide helps to even skin tone.
FSA-approved menstrual, fertility and incontinence products that actually work
Tampons, cups, (some) period underwear, fertility tests and bladder-support products qualify for FSA coverage. Our editors and testers found the standouts that make cycle care, conception tracking and leak protection easier.
The Saalt Cup melds comfort with leak-proof performance, making it a total standout in our testing. It comes in small, regular and teen sizes. Another win: The firm silicone offers the just-right amount of give for easy insertion, and it reliably pops open once it's in place.
Organic tampons must fulfill several key requirements. They need to be easy to insert and remove. They need to be comfortable and prevent leaks. But they also need to live up to their “organic” promise. Natracare 100% organic cotton tampons cover all the bases. Plus, you can get them with an applicator (made from recyclable materials) or without.
Our Yahoo testers went through a lot of period panties, and the fuller-coverage Saalt Leakproof Comfort Boyshorts came out on top as the pick for best overnight option. They’re comfy, soft and more absorbent than most other undies tested. The added absorbency means they’re bulkier than others, but pretty great for nighttime use.
MoliCare Premium Elastic Briefs feature three layers of absorbency, which our testers say quickly draw liquid to the center, keeping their skin dry, comfortable and irritation-free. The elasticized side panels and leg cuffs provide a leak-proof fit, which put these briefs in the top spot.
Because Amazon, Target and similar retailers may not be set up to accept your FSA/HSA card for this product, you may need to shop directly on the brand's website.
When choosing the best incontinence underwear, our female testers wanted a discreet fit, and that’s what they got with Amazon's Basics Women's Protective Underwear. Protection, of course, remains the No. 1 selling point. And these? They proved to be highly absorbent and, bonus, affordable too.
You need to test your LH levels daily, then twice daily, when you’re tracking your ovulation for baby-making. That means finding an affordable pack of test strips that are easy to read is crucial. That’s why this 25-pack of ovulation test strips from Easy@Home won over Yahoo testers. No line-reading! Instead, use the Premom app and get your results digitally.
Testers really appreciated that the Women’s Health + Fertility Test covers 11 hormones, including estradiol, FSH and “bonus” measures, like DHEA, cortisol and thyroid hormones. You perform a DIY finger stick (lancet included), provide a urine sample and mail everything to an accredited lab using a prepaid shipping label. The results are sent to you within two to five business days.
The Pure Enrichment PureRelief XL Heating Pad heats up really fast — we’re talking under-30-seconds fast. And that’s a big draw when period pain is wreaking havoc. Our testers loved the evenly distributed warmth, the plush feel and the extra-long cord.
FSA-approved pain relief and recovery tools tested by Yahoo editors
Your FSA funds can cover plenty of pain-relief and recovery tools. Just know that anything that straddles the line between medical and personal care — like massage guns — may require a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN), a short note from a health care provider confirming it’s part of your treatment plan. (Learn more about LMNs in the FAQs below.)
If your pick needs one, plan to buy directly from the brand’s website. Major retailers like Amazon and other big-box stores typically aren’t set up to process LMN purchases.
The OnlyCare wrap and cap set earned unanimous praise from testers for easing headaches. It’s comfortable, easy to slip on and delivers not-too-tight compression while effectively blocking light. The adjustable neck-and-shoulder wrap provides relief for anyone whose migraines are triggered by shoulder tension.
The dual-speed Shiatsu nodes on the cordless Zyllion massage pillow gave testers a deep and ouch-free massage. While the heat was mild and steady, it provided much-needed relief from back soreness.
For our testers, the Rally Massage Gun hit all the right spots — literally. They note that it “completely reimagines what a massage gun can feel like” and was the “most comfortable device by far.” For instance, you can use it face-on for a smoother massage or tilt it for a more traditional percussion experience.
Fast-acting and long-lasting, Biofreeze Professional Pain Relief Gel earned the top spot in Yahoo's roundup of the best muscle pain relief creams. Testers love the soothing menthol — and that the signature scent quickly fades after application.
These Vim & Vigr Medical-Grade Compression Socks hit the FSA sweet spot for compression sock coverage. (Socks need to fall within the 20-30 mmHg or 30-40 mmHg pressure range to be eligible for pre-tax spending.) They’re made for folks at risk for moderate edema, lymphedema, DVT, chronic venous insufficiency and blood clots. Are they a bit tricky to slide on? Yes. But getting the proper squeeze is worth it.
The combo of heat, vibration and red light pushed TheraBody ThermBack LED into the winning spot as the best red light therapy for back pain. Even though Therabody doesn't share all the details about its red light wavelength and irradiance level, our testers appreciated the relief they experienced from their lower back pain and stiffness during long-term testing.
Therabody Wave Duo is part foam roller and part percussion massager, making it a unique — and Yahoo-loved — targeted acupressure relief tool for sore calves, feet and back. You can also connect to the Therabody app for customized routines and guidance.
Yahoo testers note that this no-frills TRX Foam Roller offers a “significant amount” of relief for sore shoulders and lower backs. Plus, it’s lightweight enough to tote to and from the gym. Unlike the Therabody Wave Duo, above, you’ll have to buy this foam roller directly from TRX to use your FSA funds.
Yahoo testers say the Sparthos back brace is ideal for mild lower back pain and strains, but also rigid enough to help with sciatica. The breathable mesh, adjustability and solid lumbar support made this one an easy top pick.
The Featol Wrist Brace comes in four sizes and features three adjustable straps, so the chances it’ll fit you are high. Its removable wrist splint and two fixed splints provide lots of stability and wrist support, key features when you're looking to ease tendinitis.
FSA-eligible sleep products and relaxation aids that help you rest easier
Need more proof that good sleep equals good health? You can use your pre-tax FSA dollars to buy lots of sleep-helpers, like these Yahoo tried-and-tested top picks. Again, some of these borderline “personal care” items may need an LMN and may need to be purchased directly from the brand or another retailer like the FSA Store, which is able to verify eligibility.
Hatch Restore is not just a white noise machine with 25+ sleep sounds. It’s a night light, a sunrise alarm clock and a "sleep assistant" you can use to customize rest and rise routines. You can subscribe to Hatch+ to access additional sounds and guided meditations, but our testers slept great even without the upgrade.
Hatch Restore is one of those items that won’t show up as eligible on Amazon. You’ll need to buy directly through the brand's site, which partners with third-party checkout platform TrueMed to verify your FSA eligibility.
Cozy Earth's sheets are among the softest and most luxurious Yahoo reviewers have ever tested. Made from 100% viscose — a type of rayon — Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set is cool to the touch, making it a solid option for hot sleepers. You’ll need to purchase Cozy Earth sheets directly from their website to use the “buy with FSA” option.
Nasal strips work by gently widening your nostrils to improve airflow, which in turn helps keep snoring in check. Breathe Right Nasal Strips, our top pick from testers, proved to be comfortable and especially useful for congestion-related snoring.
Yahoo testers liken wearing the Oura Ring to “having a sleep coach on your finger.” It tracks your time in bed, total sleep, sleep efficiency, resting heart rate and time spent in different sleep stages. While you can’t use your FSA dollars for the two- and three-year extended protection plans, you can use them toward a prepaid Oura membership.
Surprising FSA-eligible products you might be missing
Before you close that tab, here are a few more FSA-eligible finds you might not expect. In fact, Rouleau says most people underestimate just how far their pre-tax dollars can go. “There’s a wide variety of health technology that’s eligible, including light therapy devices for pain or acne treatment, wearable health trackers such as WHOOP and Oura Ring, migraine relief masks, massage guns and even wearable ECG monitors,” she says.
Like Hatch Restore and the other picks above, these items likely won’t be marked as “FSA-eligible” on Amazon or other well-known sites. To grab them with pre-tax dollars, go straight to the brand’s website and look for the “TrueHealth” or “Pay with FSA/HSA — powered by TrueMed” button before you buy. After checkout, you’ll get a quick TrueMed health survey to confirm eligibility. Complete it that day to receive a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) for reimbursement.
Garmin's Venu is packed with nearly every feature imaginable, like ECG sensors, atrial fibrillation detection, music storage, smartphone notifications, a microphone and speaker. It's durable, extremely accurate, has a long battery life, can track multiple sports and workouts — and it's chic and stylish! In short, it's a no-brainer top choice from Yahoo testers.
Naked Whey won over our testers thanks to its super-short ingredient list, third-party certification and reasonable price. The powder mixes well and is available in five flavors, plus an unflavored variety. Each two-scoop serving provides 25 grams of protein.
AG1 (formerly known as Athletic Greens) set the bar high — and impressed Yahoo testers — with its all-in-one formula. It features over 75 ingredients, including a broad range of vitamins and minerals, pre- and probiotics, adaptogens and fruit and veggie extracts. Bonus: It mixes well and tastes great.
Yahoo testers were impressed with Momentous Creatine's high-quality ingredients and the ease of mixing. The creatine is sourced from Creapure — a pure form of creatine backed by research for its safety and effectiveness. And it's NSF Certified, so we know it's been thoroughly tested for potency, contaminants, heavy metals and banned substances.
Cure Hydration Electrolyte Drink Mix is made from plant-based ingredients, contains no added sugar or artificial sweeteners and its flavor is both mild and refreshing. Our testers also love that it's easy to mix. "I just gave it a quick swirl in my Stanley cup, and it dissolved perfectly."
Yahoo tested a number of truly high-quality exercise bikes, but few could check the boxes as well as the Peloton Indoor Exercise Bike. This machine has it all, allowing users to experience the feel of a studio cycling experience at home, with new classes added nearly daily to the Peloton platform. (Depending on your plan, refurbished original series bikes, like this one, may be HSA/FSA-eligible, but rentals are not.)

FSA FAQs
How can I tell if something qualifies for FSA spending?
If you see “FSA eligible” or “HSA eligible” on a product page, you’re good to go. Retailers like Amazon, Target, Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens all flag approved items — and the FSA Store sells only eligible products. When in doubt, check the fine print or your plan’s list of qualified expenses.
Can I use my FSA card when I shop online?
Yes — if your card is linked to your account, it’ll automatically apply to eligible items at checkout. If you don’t have a card or are unsure if something qualifies? Pay normally, save your receipt and upload it to your FSA benefits portal or app later for reimbursement. Your claim will need to include the provider name, date, service or product type and the amount paid.
What’s a Letter of Medical Necessity, and who writes it?
Certain products that blur the line between personal care and medical treatment, such as massage guns, red-light therapy devices or white noise machines, require a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). It’s a quick note from a licensed health care provider — such as a physician, nurse practitioner, chiropractor or physical therapist — explaining that the product supports your treatment plan. Items that require an LMN usually can’t be purchased through standard online checkout systems like Amazon or Walmart. Instead, you’ll need to buy through platforms that verify eligibility, such as TrueMed or the FSA Store — or submit your LMN directly for reimbursement.
Why does an FSA-approved item sometimes look ineligible online?
Retail systems often fail to keep up. Some wellness brands sell through their own sites and verify purchases with third-party checkout platforms, like TrueMed or Dermstore’s Flex, which confirm eligibility before you check out. If a product requires a Letter of Medical Necessity, those systems will prompt you to complete a short form and connect with a licensed provider before approving the purchase.
What happens if I don’t use all my FSA funds?
Most plans follow a strict use-it-or-lose-it rule. Check your plan details before assuming you’ll get extra time. “If an employer offers a carryover option, up to $660 may be eligible to carry over from 2025 into 2026,” says Rouleau. “But this feature is optional, and many plans don’t include it, so it’s important that you check your specific FSA details with HR or your FSA administrator.”
