Micron set to report its first quarter earnings Wednesday after the bell. Investors closely watching the company's AI data center business, and this after Broadcom failed to meet lofty expectations. Tech editor Dan Hawley joins me now with more on what we can expect. Dan.

Yeah, Jared, it's going to be an interesting earnings report. This is kind of in the midst of this huge memory build out where there's now a shortage uh on the consumer side uh just because so many companies are now leaning in the direction of building uh memory for these data centers. Case in point, Micron actually exited their consumer business or announced they're exiting their consumer business as of February 2026. And so that means they're no longer going to be selling their crucial line of memory. That's a little RIP to a gaming icon right there. Uh and just going all in on data center AI specifically. Uh and so for the quarter, uh we're expecting uh to see growth of uh 47 47.9% on revenue. That would be $14 billion, EPS of $4.70. That uh would be up uh obviously a year-over-year. DRAM in and of itself, that's that RAM that the uh data center use would be 10 billion on its own. And so far the stock uh is ripping this year. Uh it's up more than 186% year to date, though it's down uh a little about uh over 1% over the last month. But, you know, this is again part of this broader trend of these companies going all in on AI. For the the memory business is is very fickle. They go through this kind of series of fits and starts where there's an over abundance and prices come down. There's then too few too little memory and then prices skyrocket. Uh right now, uh we seem to be in some kind of sweet spot, at least for the data center side. But as I said, for the consumer side, not so much. We're going to see uh potential increases in prices for things like laptops, desktops, smartphones. Uh basically everything that uses DRAM, which is more or less anything that's a computer at this point, uh is going to be affected by this. And so, it'll be interesting to see if Micron has any kind of comment on that. They're one of the big memory makers in the world, them, uh Samsung and SK Hynix. Uh so we just have to see if they have any kind of commentary on what that looks like, uh if they have a through line to when that kind of will end. Um, you know, obviously Micron no longer in the consumer business, but that doesn't mean that they don't also supply memory for other uh uh uses outside of AI. So, we're just going to have to see when they report.
