My team and I have spent the last year exploring how AI companies can build truly helpful financial experiences with Plaid. Now, using Plaid to securely share their permissioned financial data within a Decagon agent, consumers using a personal finance app can do things like quickly connect new accounts, or get help fixing any broken bank account connection. If you’re attending Decagon Dialogues, I’ll be on stage with Affirm and Varo Bank to discuss how agentic customer experiences can create new value in financial services.

We’re partnering with Plaid to make financial experiences with Decagon agents more seamless and secure. Many common financial services requests require customers to authenticate with their bank, which traditionally means leaving the conversation, logging in elsewhere, and coming back to finish what they started. With Plaid, customers can now securely connect their bank accounts directly within a Decagon conversation, allowing agents to help resolve issues around bank connections, failed payments, disputed charges, and more. And for financial tasks that unfold over days or weeks, Decagon agents can carry context forward and continue where the customer left off without requiring them to authenticate again. More on our partnership in the comments.

Today, Plaid announced a partnership with Decagon to power more helpful, proactive consumer finance-related workflows including customer support, onboarding, and consumer engagement. This signals an important evolution: Agentic AI is changing the way financial services and fintech companies engage with consumers. Example: For lenders with complex workflows requiring multiple process steps across several days, this integration helps keep the entire process in one streamlined flow, improving the borrower experience and reducing application drop offs. Here's a high-level breakdown of how it works: Problem: • Static customer support tickets or stalled onboardings could take hours, maybe even days to resolve • Prompts for financial account logins live in separate browsers outside a conversation and lead to drop-off • Bottom line: Time wasted and customers lost costs money Solution: • Real-time consumer-permissioned financial data happens directly in an agent conversation • Customer support requests are resolved in minutes and onboardings resumed seamlessly • Bottom line: Financial context leads to more helpful consumer experiences. As agents become more sophisticated and contextual, customer support shifts from a cost center to a revenue driver instead Thrilled to partner with Jesse Zhang, Ashwin Sreenivas, and the Decagon team - Roger Liang, Ariana Xiang, and the crew. More from me and Kathleen McGuirk in the comments. Reach out to learn more!

In financial services, less risk almost always costs you conversion. Account verification is the classic case: manual entry converts for some users, open banking is safer, and most teams accept the trade-off. Imprint didn't. Using Plaid's dynamic UX, they moved two-thirds of users onto more secure account linking with no hit to conversion. Less risk with no trade-off is rare in this industry. Thanks to the Imprint team for the great collaboration!

Imprint uses Plaid to strengthen bank account verification and catch return risk earlier, without adding friction for cardholders. 🎯 Goal: Reduce ACH return risk while keeping bank account linking seamless. 🏆 How they did it: By bringing instant and manual account linking into a single Plaid experience, Imprint increased Instant Auth adoption from 37% to 66% while keeping its bank account link rate steady. And with Plaid Database Auth, the return rate on manually linked accounts fell by roughly one-third. Read their story: pla.id/imprint

The winners of the next fintech era won't just be the smartest product experiences, they'll be the ones consumers can trust. Plaid makes that possible at the intersection of 💵 and AI. Consumer-permissioned data access is the key, and a brand that’s been building that trust for over 13 years. I'm grateful to Nicole Casperson for digging into this with me for Fintech Is Femme, link in comments. I'll be picking up this thread live when I close out the Fintech Is Femme Leadership Summit on September 30th. See you there!

Compeer Financial uses Plaid to catch suspicious applicants earlier while keeping digital loan verification straightforward for legitimate borrowers. 🎯 Goal: Reduce fraud risk while creating a more seamless path to financing. 🏆 How they did it: By putting Plaid Identity Verification at the start of its digital application process, Compeer helps stop suspected fraud before it moves deeper into the lending workflow. In May 2026 alone, the company ran 18,000 Plaid Identity Verification and Monitor sessions with a 93.3% success rate. Read their story: pla.id/compeer
