What exactly is a millage rate? 🏠 It’s the rate used to calculate your property taxes. Let's break it down: Jacksonville Beach is just one piece of the property tax pie and the City’s proposed millage rate is about 17% lower than the current average for cities statewide.   That City portion helps fund Ocean Rescue, police, streets and sidewalks, parks and recreation, and other City operations right here in Jax Beach. 🌊 It’s all part of how Jacksonville Beach stays financially responsible, operates debt-free, and keeps our community clean, functional, enjoyable and moving forward. On the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders, service members, and all those who showed extraordinary courage in the face of tragedy. Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor their memory and the resilience shown in the days that followed. We will never forget.

If you saw this 3-block-long pipe, you might wonder what it’s doing here. 👀 We’re breaking down how this massive pipe is part of the 10th Street Improvement Project — replacing a major wastewater pipe that runs from one end of town to the other. Additionally, crews are also installing an 8-inch potable water main. 💧 (Potable means safe to drink.) A lot of the work happening underground isn’t always easy to see, but it’s an important part of improving Jacksonville Beach’s infrastructure.

Have you seen the construction happening on 10th Street South? 🚧 It’s a lot more than just paving. 🚧 What’s happening: 10th Street South is getting new water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure, followed by a full roadway reconstruction. 📅 How long: Construction is expected to continue through the end of Summer 2027, with traffic impacts near San Pablo Elementary School. ⚠️ Safety matters: Follow signs and traffic controls, allow extra travel time, and stay alert around work zones and school traffic. 🤝 Who’s involved: The City is working with Four Waters Engineering and Callaway Contracting to complete the project safely and efficiently. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we make these important infrastructure improvements for the future of Jacksonville Beach. 

There’s a lot happening at Jax Beach Golf Club! The first of three major improvement projects is now underway, kicking off several months of work that will upgrade the course’s irrigation and drainage infrastructure while helping the City meet Florida’s reclaimed water requirements years ahead of schedule. The good news? The course is staying open, and we’re working to minimize impacts to golfers along the way. In this week’s Take 2 Tuesdays, we’re answering the big questions: What’s changing? This Friday, Jax Beach is rolling out for one of the biggest community events of the summer — hundreds of riders hitting the beach for Bike Breakers, benefiting THREE local nonprofits. The City of Jacksonville Beach will host four different Budget Workshops to go over the proposed budget for the 2027 Fiscal Year. The meetings allow each department to update City Council and the public regarding new and ongoing projects in Jacksonville Beach. The budget workshops will be followed by two different Budget Hearings, on September 9 and September 21 where City Council will vote to adopt or deny the budget. Friday, 7/31, 2:00 - 4:00 PM: Budget Showcase Monday, 8/3, 4:00 PM: Executive, Finance, HR, Information Services, and Legal Tuesday, 8/4, 5:30 PM: Police, Parks and Recreation, and Beaches Energy Monday, 8/10, 5:30 PM: Public Works, Planning and Development, and CRA Wednesday, 9/9, 5:30 PM: First Hearing Monday, 9/21, 5:30 PM: Second Hearing **August 11, 4:00 PM, is being held as a tentative meeting date should the need arise for further discussion regarding the budget
