The most challenging aspect of an infrastructure program is not developing the vision. It is maintaining alignment while executing that vision over many years in an environment of constant change. Delivery is about managing interdependencies, integrating functions, building enduring partnerships, preparing operations teams, and ultimately realizing the benefits that justified the investment in the first place. Julie L. Labonte, principal investigator for WRF 5196 – One Water Program Management, shares, “What resonates most with me about WRF Project 5196, in developing a Guidance Manual on One Water Program Management, is its emphasis on adaptive management. In a world of changing regulations, evolving priorities, and unforeseen project conditions, rigid execution is rarely the answer. The most successful programs continuously learn, adapt, and improve while staying aligned with their objectives. This matters because program delivery extends far beyond managing schedules and budgets. Meet Stephano Valentin Miranda, senior transportation planner in Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up between the United States and Chile, Stephano developed an appreciation for how transportation connects people, communities and opportunities. That perspective inspired a career in planning, where he helps guide projects from early vision to implementation while bringing together government agencies, engineers and the public along the way. After serving in public sector roles, Stephano joined HDR and started working alongside the Florida Department of Transportation, where he's grown a career centered on collaboration, public involvement and building trust with clients and communities. For Stephano, the most rewarding part of transportation planning is collaborating to create systems and opportunities that improve everyday life in Atlanta and around the world. Our employees know how to roll up their sleeves in service to their community. With support from a third HDR Canada Fund grant to A Better Life Foundation, Vancouver employees participated in the Plenty of Plates initiative, providing three-course meals to community members facing homelessness, food insecurity and unemployment. “What drew me to this cause was that you're actually getting involved in supporting and interacting with people in that community who are in need,” said John Benner, architect. “You see the community in a different light as a result of it.” Watch the video: https://lnkd.in/ea7EaCiu
