Government cybersecurity leaders are sounding the alarm, and the opportunity to modernize has never been clearer. In a recent byline for StateTech Magazine, Drenan Dudley highlights how government CISOs are navigating rising pressure as legacy infrastructure persists, threats become more sophisticated (including AI-enabled attacks), and funding does not always keep pace with today’s risk. The NASCIO-Deloitte study cited in the piece shows confidence among CISOs in their ability to protect public data has dropped from 48% in 2022 to 22% in 2026. At the same time, 94% are now tasked with developing generative AI security policies in addition to their existing responsibilities. The takeaway is clear: public sector security teams need practical ways to reduce complexity, improve visibility, and move faster without adding operational burden, especially for critical infrastructure providers that often lack dedicated cyber staff and modern tools.
