🚀 From Code Commit to Cloud Monitoring — Understanding the AWS DevOps Journey! Today, I had the opportunity to attend the online workshop “AWS DevOps — Build, Automate, Deploy & Monitor”, hosted by Johnson D. and Nirmal A. As someone building career in Cloud & DevOps, this session was a valuable opportunity to understand how different AWS services and DevOps practices come together in a real-world workflow. 🔧 What I explored during the session: ☁️ Amazon EC2 — Understanding compute infrastructure and application deployment 🗄️ Amazon S3 — Storage, artifacts, and practical cloud use cases ⚙️ AWS CodeBuild — Automating application builds and testing 🔐 AWS IAM — Managing identities, roles, permissions, and secure access 📊 Amazon CloudWatch — Monitoring applications and AWS resources 🌿 Git — Version control and collaborative development 💡 My Key Learning The biggest takeaway for me was understanding the complete flow of a DevOps process rather than looking at each tool independently: Developer → Git → Build → Deploy → Monitor I gained a better understanding of how AWS services can be integrated to automate software delivery, maintain secure infrastructure, and monitor applications running in the cloud. The session also reinforced an important DevOps principle for me: DevOps is not just about tools — it's about automation, collaboration, reliability, security, and continuous improvement. As a fresher preparing for opportunities in DevOps and Cloud Engineering, experiences like this help me connect theoretical knowledge with practical industry workflows. One thing I didn't really understand when I started my career: Knowing more technologies doesn't automatically make you better at your job. When I started learning DevOps, I was always thinking about what I should learn next. AWS? Azure? Docker? Kubernetes? Terraform? Jenkins? I used to feel like I was falling behind if I didn't know another tool. But slowly, I started looking at things differently. In a real situation, nobody really cares how many tools you have on your resume if you can't figure out what's actually going wrong. Sometimes you don't know the answer. Sometimes you spend a lot of time debugging and still don't find the issue. Sometimes you have to ask someone who has more experience. And honestly, I think that's normal. One thing I've become more comfortable with is saying: "I don't know. Let me check." Instead of trying to act like I know everything. Because technology changes so quickly. The tools will change. The platforms will change. The commands will change. But being able to learn, troubleshoot, ask questions, communicate clearly and keep going when something isn't working — those things don't really change. I'm still working on all of this myself. And one thing I'm trying to remind myself is: Don't just keep collecting technologies. Get better at solving problems. Still a work in progress.
