  • There is a difference between reading about and experiencing voice AI in a vehicle. We can read about features such as conversational and natural flow, branded voice and personality, and the fact that it’s a reliable companion during the drive.   But the real “wow” moment will occur when you actually sit in the car and experience the voice AI firsthand. Having that conversation and getting things done will make you feel the difference. And creating these real-life moments is what drives us.   BMW Group's Ultimate Driving Experience gives drivers hands-on access to the iX3 Neue Klasse and the voice AI inside. It might already be in your city.

  • 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant powered by Amazon's Alexa+ is now live in the United States, rolling into customers' hands with the first US deliveries this autumn. Since launching in Germany, Italy, and Great Britain with the BMW Neue Klasse, the experience now extends to US drivers. A voice interaction that understands context, formulates its own responses, and evolves with the vehicle. BMW Group made the voice AI entirely their own: a seamless extension of the brand, not a bolted-on feature. More countries to follow.

  • Have you ever had to yell at your phone's voice AI because the microphone was too far away and you were focusing on something else while your children were talking to you at the same time? This might be a very casual use case that in-vehicle voice AI needs to handle smoothly. That's why it has to be deeply integrated with the car's cabin systems. Learn more about why voice AI in a car is nothing like voice AI on your phone. Swipe for the deep dive. P.S. Find all three videos with Kristopher Davies (Amazon) debunking each myth on our page.

  • The real design challenge? Being helpful without competing for the driver's attention. Don't miss the final episode of our "3 Myths of Voice AI in the Vehicle" series, where Kristopher Davies (Principal Product Manager at Amazon) debunks the assumption that in-vehicle voice AI is just the same as AI on wheels. Myth 3: "AI in the car is like AI on your phone, just with wheels!" P.S. Carousel deep-dive drops next Tuesday.

  • Think the hardest AI challenge is building the biggest model? Kristopher Davies (Amazon) has already debunked two myths about voice AI in the vehicle. We just raised the question whether smaller or bigger models keep engineers up at night, and the answer is paradoxical: the smaller the model, the harder to build. Swipe for a deep-dive and catch the previous videos with Kris on our page.   P.S. Our final Myth 3 video drops NEXT Thursday!

  • What keeps engineers up at night: smaller or bigger models?   This is part two of our “3 Myths of Voice AI in the Vehicle” series. Today, Kristopher Davies (Principal Product Manager at Amazon) is busting his favorite myth. Why is it his favorite? Because the explanation is way more counterintuitive than expected.   Myth 2: "Bigger models are harder to build!" P.S. Carousel deep-dive drops next Tuesday.

  • Who thinks voice AI in the car is as easy as plugging in an LLM? We're starting our "3 Myths of Voice AI in the Vehicle" video series. And who better to bust them than Kristopher Davies, Petrol Head, AI Tinkerer, and Principal Product Manager at Amazon. Myth 1: "Just plug in an LLM and you’re done!" P.S. The answer involves a lot more than a language model.

  • The distance between a demo and a vehicle rolling off the production line, with the same experience, reliably, at scale, in multiple markets — that's where the real work happens. James (Shay) Conway (Director of Engineering at ASV) recently shared the full philosophy behind this approach: a team that does the hard thinking upfront adapts instead of freezing when reality shifts. And the proof is on the road. Amazon's In-Vehicle Voice Assistant, powered by Alexa+, is live in real vehicles, with real drivers, under real conditions — now available in Germany, Italy, and Great Britain, with more locales coming.

  • While everyone's talking about what AI can do, Steven Teig is thinking about what we should be asking it to do. Engineers are trained to answer questions. But the breakthroughs come from asking better ones. That's true for building chips, building products, and building AI. Steven Teig - VP and Distinguished Engineer and a lifelong inventor on art, craft, and Edge AI.
