After 16 years of doing his best work, Rick Quinn, General Manager of Acme Tools - Minot, has retired, leaving a lasting mark on the company. Rick joined the Minot store as Assistant Manager before being promoted to General Manager 2 years later. He considers his first major accomplishment to be improving the store inventory structure and warehouse efficiencies - an 18-month project that has paid off in strong numbers ever since. When Rick started at Acme Tools, the Minot store was a single building. Today it spans three buildings and covers Acme Tools and Rents, Service, and Acme Equipment. Rick is also proud of the Minot employees who have advanced within the company, including Taylor Brown, Derek Smith, Will Smith, Ben Litzinger, and Eric Schaumburg. “I taught and demonstrated what not to do, and they succeeded anyway,” he joked. Throughout his time at Acme, Rick mentored others and passed on what he'd learned. As he retires, he offered one more piece of advice for employees: “Learn something every day, make mistakes once and learn from them, and just think, 'What would Rick Quinn do?' and do the opposite." In retirement, Rick plans to stay busy with yardwork and gardening, working in the shop on various cars and a motorcycle, tackling a rebuild of his very first car, and taking plenty of road trips. “Just listen to the music, and you will find me looking on the bright side of life.”

We're celebrating two large anniversaries at Acme this July. Thank you Dean and Blair for your years of dedication and leadership. 🎉 𝟯𝟱 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 Dean Spicer - 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘧 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘳 There’s a lot I enjoy about the work—solving problems, analyzing data, and implementing new technologies that make us more efficient. I especially value the chance to evaluate emerging tools that improve my co-workers’ day-to-day work lives. Lately, that’s meant mentoring my team and passing along the experiences I’ve gained over my years at Acme. Being part of the leadership team is a real privilege; helping guide Acme into the future and collaborating with others to find solutions that improve our customers’ shopping experience. 𝟰𝟱 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 Blair Ihmels - 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘳 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘈𝘥𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘳 I enjoy the diversity of what I do. Every day is different and to work for a company that is a complete supplier of products and services to the contractor to the DIY market makes it fun. I look back on 45 years and am fortunate to have worked with George, Danny and now Steve and Paul Kuhlman.

It's time to celebrate our first summer anniversary milestones! These long-time employees happily shared what they love most about working at Acme Tools. We're excited to see what they accomplish next! 𝟱 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 Dennis Bertram –- 𝘞𝘦𝘣 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘳 What I love most about my role is the people. I came to Acme Tools after relocating from Germany, and what struck me from the first week was how much everyone here actually cares; about the work, about the customer, about each other. That kind of culture is hard to create which is why I appreciate it even more now. Five years in, it's still the thing I notice most. Whether it's the team I work with every day, leadership I get to learn from, or someone in a department I rarely cross paths with, the level of investment people bring to this place is rare. 𝟭𝟬 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 JT Anderson –- 𝘛𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘈𝘎  I like the variety of products we sell and like the ability to speak knowledgeably about all of the different products. I take pride in helping direct the customer to the right decision. I'm excited to see what the next step in this journey is and where it's going to take me next. Hard work and dedication, should get me there.

🎉 Help us celebrate this amazing milestone for Wes Kinneberg, who is retiring after 60 years of service. Wes started working for Acme Electric in Grand Forks, ND as a motor service technician in 1966. In the early days, he would disassemble the used electric motors and remove damaged windings. New copper windings would be added while insulating and baking the motors, bringing them back to working condition. This was much more cost effective than buying new back then. This service is still offered today. As the business evolved, Wes moved into sales and helped to develop the Northern Minnesota outside sales territory in Bemidji, MN, paving the way for Acme Tools to add a retail store in the city. Wes eventually moved back into inside sales his last few years. Congratulations Wes, we appreciate your many years of service and hope you enjoy your well-deserved retirement!

After the initial round of 32 brands, it finally came down to these last two teams, Wiha and Milwaukee. It was a hard-fought battle that set record sales and traffic online, between these two brands. We now have a clear winner of our Last Brand Standing tournament.
