It's never too late to finish what you start! After watching his daughter earn her bachelor's degree and his son work toward his own, Bill McKiernan was inspired to revisit a goal he'd put on hold decades earlier. With support from Hartford HealthCare's Tuition Assistance Program, Bill returned to school while balancing work and family life, ultimately earning his bachelor's degree in operational leadership from Charter Oak State College. The achievement became even more meaningful when he graduated just days apart from his son, giving the family a chance to celebrate this milestone together. Bill's story is a powerful reminder that learning doesn't have an expiration date and that it's never too late to pursue your goals 🎓

Today, Hartford HealthCare and American Ambulance Service Inc. launched Connecticut’s first Mobile Integrated Health program, bringing care beyond the traditional walls of a hospital or medical office and directly into patients’ homes and communities. At Hartford HealthCare, we often talk about meeting people where they are. Mobile Integrated Health brings that commitment to life. Through this innovative model, specially trained clinicians can proactively engage patients, help manage chronic conditions, support transitions of care and intervene before a health challenge becomes an emergency. By delivering timely care and support in the home, the program helps reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and makes healthcare more affordable for the communities we serve. The goal is simple but powerful: better access, better coordination and better outcomes. I am especially proud that American Ambulance is the first organization in Connecticut to operationalize this model and complete a home visit through this program. Achievements like this happen because people are willing to challenge traditional thinking about where, and how, healthcare can be delivered. My thanks to the extraordinary teams at American Ambulance, Backus Hospital and across Hartford HealthCare who turned that vision into reality. This is innovation with purpose. And it is another step toward a healthcare system that is more connected, more personalized, more affordable and built around the needs of patients and families.
