Bringing Quality Hearing Care to Anyone, Anywhere.

About us

We started as a team of two and after just 10 years, we are proud to be a team of more than 1,200 worldwide. We have built the fastest-growing hearing care company in the world. We were the first company to combine positive messaging and online marketing, a free phone consultation, and a network of top audiologists for unprecedented hearing outcomes. And we did it all with the lofty goal of removing the stigma around hearing care and delivering the best solution possible for our customers. Today, we are the clear market leader in online hearing care in every country that we operate in. From the start, we have chosen to build for the long term. We love what we do. What do we do? Deliver on our mission. We believe it is our purpose and duty to bring quality hearing care to anyone, anywhere. It’s why we get up in the morning, and why we try to build a better and bigger hear.com each and every day.

Roughly 40 million Americans have hearing loss, and it's increasing their dementia risk. Research cited by both the The New York Times and NPR has established what clinicians have known for years: untreated hearing loss carries more dementia risk than smoking, high blood pressure, or social isolation. The research is extensive, and it keeps pointing in the same direction. At hear.com, we think about this data constantly. We’ve seen that people delay treatment for the same reasons they avoid blood pressure checks or skip the eye doctor. It doesn't feel urgent until it is. - often when the cognitive toll has already started. The delay is especially costly with hearing because the loss is so gradual. The brain compensates, and years pass before someone admits they've been missing things. The research and technology are here. We know that early intervention works. What's still missing is urgency, and creating that urgency is one of the most important work this industry can do right now.

  • Yesterday, our Senior Audiologist, Dr. Rachel Artsma, Au.D., CCC-A, hosted a live AMA on Reddit, Inc. r/HearingAids community — an open conversation about hearing loss, hearing aids, and brain health. A few things stood out to her from the discussion: Hearing and understanding are not the same thing. Many participants described being able to hear sounds while still struggling to follow conversations, particularly in noisy environments — a reminder that hearing care is fundamentally about communication and reduced listening effort, not simply amplification. Adjusting to hearing aids is a process, not an instant switch. Questions about adapting to new sounds highlighted that the brain needs time to relearn how to interpret sounds it may not have heard clearly in years. People are increasingly connecting hearing health to broader wellness — brain health, balance, and healthy aging came up repeatedly, showing real public awareness of how interconnected these systems are. We're grateful to everyone who joined the conversation and asked such thoughtful questions. #HearingHealth #Audiology #ThoughtLeadership

  • Proud to share that our own Dr. Rachel Artsma, Au.D., CCC-A, senior audiologist at hear.com, was recently featured in Newsweek discussing three of the most common everyday threats to hearing health. Her insight: hearing damage is often cumulative rather than sudden. Everyday habits — listening to earbuds at high volume, daily exposure to household noise, and simply underestimating how these add up over time — can meaningfully affect long-term hearing health. Dr. Artsma's practical guidance for anyone using earbuds regularly: follow the 60/60 rule. Keep volume at no more than 60% of maximum, and limit continuous listening sessions to about 60 minutes at a time. We're grateful for the opportunity to contribute expert perspective to this important conversation, and proud of Dr. Artsma for representing hear.com's commitment to hearing health education. Let’s say you have a dental problem. CVS has something to help, and it will probably be a solid first attempt at improving the situation. But you’ll often end up at the dentist eventually, and your results will be much better. Over-the-counter hearing aids are a lot like CVS - a first attempt. And if you are mostly at home, OTC might be enough. But if you are active, if your soundscape changes constantly, if you are in social situations that demand speech clarity, OTC won't cut it. It won't sound natural and clear. And you will stop wearing it. There is no technical way to get medical-grade performance out of an OTC device. It is a fundamentally differently engineered product, even though it looks the same. As long as someone understands they can afford medical-grade, they will get there. Because - much like CVS versus the dentist - the moment they get a comparison, they won’t settle for anything but the best.

  • We are beyond proud to share that hear.com won a Gold Stevie Award for Technology Excellence. 🏆 Clinic-in-a-Box® and the Horizon IX were built on one belief: expert hearing care should reach people, not the other way around. A box on your doorstep. A licensed hearing care professional walking you through your evaluation over video. Medical-grade hearing aids personalized to your life, from your own couch. Millions of people wait years before addressing their hearing loss. If this recognition means even one more person takes that first step sooner, then this award means everything. Congratulations to every single person on this team who kept pushing hearing care closer to the people who need it most. 🦻✨ The Stevie® Awards #GoldStevie #TechnologyExcellence #HearingCare #ClinicInABox #hearcom

Yesterday, we won a Gold Stevie Award for Technology Excellence. To get there, we started by building a clinic that fits in a box. The idea behind Clinic-in-a-Box is: we send you a box, and inside are all the tools needed to meet with a licensed hearing care professional for a medical-grade hearing evaluation and hearing aid fitting from the comfort of home. Once you have the box, one of our audiologists walks you through your hearing exam over video, the same way we would in person. We personalize medical-grade hearing aids for your hearing loss and lifestyle from your own couch. We paired Clinic-in-a-Box with Horizon IX, the hearing aid with the highest spontaneous acceptance we have ever measured. You put them in, and sound clarity is immediate. I feel so proud that the judges gave us Gold. They recognized our teams who kept asking how far we could push expert hearing care toward the people who need it. Millions still wait years before they do anything about their hearing loss. If a box on the doorstep gets someone there sooner, then hear.com has done our job.
