You've seen our railroad through Mobile LiDAR mapping. Now, see it from above! Using LiDAR-equipped drones, our teams collect millions of data points that help create highly detailed 3D maps of the railroad. The data is collected using LiDAR drones and mobile vehicles across our network. This technology gives our railroaders a clearer view of the network, so they can plan better, work smarter, and operate more safely. Our teams use it for: 🚂 Planning Engineering design, construction projects, and infrastructure assessments. 🛤️ Maintenance Monitoring track conditions, structures, clearances, and other assets. 🌳 Vegetation Management Identifying areas along the right-of-way where vegetation management or SkyTrim maintenance may be needed to support safe rail operations. 🚨 Emergency Response Providing detailed mapping that can support recovery efforts and severe weather assessments. Behind every point cloud, map and digital model is a team of Norfolk Southern railroaders transforming data into tools that help maintain, improve and operate our railroad. Rail safety starts one conversation at a time. This week, more than 70 Team NS volunteers joined Operation Lifesaver and our fellow railroaders for rail crossing safety blitzes in Atlanta, Birmingham, Chicago, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Together, we shared rail safety information with drivers to reinforce a simple but important message: safe choices at crossings and around trains and tracks can save lives. Whether it's a daily commute or heading out on a road trip, a few extra seconds can make all the difference. One simple message. 10 years of making a difference. Today, #TeamNS joined Operation Lifesaver, Inc. at the NYSE as they rang the Opening Bell® in recognition of the 10th annual #SeeTracksThinkTrainWeek. For a decade, this nationwide campaign has shared a simple, lifesaving message: stay alert and make safe choices around tracks and trains. At Norfolk Southern, our commitment to safety starts with how we operate and extends into the communities we serve. We recorded our best accident rate in more than a decade, and we’re proud to partner with Operation Lifesaver to increase rail safety awareness all year long. For Britt Morrell, railroading is more than a career. It's part of her family's story spanning six generations. Today, as Group Manager of Intermodal Customer Logistics, Britt helps connect customers with our intermodal services. Her team works closely with customers and operating teams to communicate updates, resolve issues and help keep shipments moving efficiently. While her family's railroad roots run deep, stretching back more than 100 years, Britt has built a path all her own in the industry.
