Yesterday, Solomon Page team members joined thousands of participants for the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in New York City. The annual event honors the memory of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller and all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, while recognizing the continued sacrifices of first responders and military service members. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation carries forward Stephen Siller’s legacy by supporting America’s first responders, military heroes, and their families through housing programs and other critical resources. Yesterday, in stormy weather, I joined 40,000 "of our closest friends" to do the Tunnel to Towers. Firefighters came in full gear from all over the US but from across the pond also - with crews from Paris and London. This annual event is incredibly special and I am so grateful to work for a company - Solomon Page - that supports the work of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. And have the opportunity in my own very small way to support their work. The Foundation's 'motto' is: "Help us to continue to do good." For those who are unfamiliar, it provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children, and builds specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. Children of the Foundation’s home recipients are offered full scholarships for undergraduate degrees and accredited trade school programs, helping secure their futures. The Foundation is also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness. And helping America to Never Forget. I ponder on that theme - help us continue to do good. And I imagine a world where every morning, everyone starts their day thinking about and deciding on, what good they will do that day. What a wild idea.... right?!
