Late Senator Tawar Umbi Wada, long before his recent unfortunate death, declared that he would not seek third term. It was a signal aspiring candidates needed to start showing interest to replace him come 2011.

But with his sudden and untimely demise some three weeks ago, the jostle to replace him has only intensified, as many feel that even though there is barely or even less that twelve months to general election, there is less need for bye-election, as the country at large is at a moment when many reforms that have to do with the National Assembly and Gombe cannot afford to be left out with only one Senator in the red chambers.
