Damian Matacz posted thisWhat criteria do you think would make Australia a legitimate candidate as a hub for regional AI capabilities? Energy supply and space are obviously foundational, but for true regional capabilities connectivity and latency must be the gatekeepers? Is there even a role for a regional hub in APAC in the traditional sense given the growing importance of data sovereignty and the continued emergence of greater supply of capacity (and reduced costs) of access to many of the traditional South East Asia markets that may have otherwise been the reason hubs existed?

This is a foundational role on the Network Strategy team — owning full-lifecycle procurement of high-capacity transport and helping scale the international backbone that connects APAC to the rest of the world. Based in Singapore or Sydney. SUBCO today announced over 40,000 km of new subsea infrastructure - the single largest build ever undertaken by a carrier in the Indo-Pacific. Three new 24 fibre pair hypercables, all targeting completion in 2029: 🇦🇺 - 🇯🇵 APX North - 9,500 km connecting Sydney to Japan via Guam. The first hypercable offering direct Australia-Japan fibre connectivity, with switched branching units enabling select fibre pairs to bypass Guam entirely. 🇫🇲 - 🇺🇸 APX East-2 - 10,000 km connecting Guam to Los Angeles. Damian Matacz liked thisDamian Matacz liked thisI recently made one of the harder decisions of my life: I left Cloudflare. Dramatic, I know. But it became more than just a job, it became a huge part of my identity. I was hired by a group of male leaders, who were brave enough to bring on someone who was, at the time, unmistakably pregnant. A leap of faith on their part. In my very first global All Hands, the CEO clarified "We are not a family, we are a high-performing team," with a Golden State Warriors comparison thrown in for good measure. Fair enough who doesn’t love the being compared to Curry and Green during their peak?!? We were high-performing. He just failed to anticipate that a team can be both a sports metaphor and, so much more. So, as I close one of the best chapters of my life: To Ratnesh Shah, Raymond Maisano and Krishna Zulkarnain, thank you for the gamble. To the APAC and ANZ leadership, Jonathon Dixon, Steve Bray, Goran Risticevic, Pat Breen thank you for making me feel valued and appreciated. To my ANZ colleagues those still there and those who’ve left, thank you for making the wins big and the laughs bigger. To the best marketing team I've had the privilege of working with, you moved the needle, hit the ball out of the park, and kicked more goals than anyone expected. That was you. To Ben Munroe thank you for pushing me to lead Womenflare, this was one of the most rewarding things I've done, and it's only made me want to do more. To my Cloudflare people and to the incredible partners I’ve had the privilege of building such strong relationships with…I got mad love for ya!❤️ It’s been one hell of a ride, and I’m so grateful I got to share it with you. A well-planned and executed merger or acquisition can be a powerful business tool. There is no denying the amalgamation of two companies into one entity can be a very effective way to achieve growth, diversification, economies of scale and an improvement in competitive positioning. The ultimate goal of any merger or acquisition is to generate a sustained improvement in the value of shareholder wealth. But this goal is not achieved quite as often as might be thought.
