The Joint Air and Space Power (JAPCC) Conference is one of the premier forums for the Air and Space Domain. This high-level conference annually brings together more than 400 representatives from the 32 NATO member states.   As a leading provider of ground-based air defence and C-UAV solutions, Diehl Defence also presented its latest technologies. 💡 Drone Shield 2026 – Successful participation by Diehl Defence with UGV Ziesel & Autonomy Kit PLATON From September 22–24, the UGV Industry Days, as part of the OPEX Experimental Exercise Drone Shield 2026, brought together industry, academia and armed forces to explore the operational use of Unmanned Ground Systems. Organized by the Czech MoD and Armed Forces, the event featured a huge number of companies and multiple UGVs, with participants from the Czech Republic, Germany, Latvia, Poland and Ukraine. The Unmanned Systems Team of Diehl Defence, participating with the UGV Ziesel and the PLATON Autonomy Kit, delivered a highly successful performance across all disciplines: ▪️ Mobility: All obstacles were successfully mastered multiples times ▪️ Follow Me: Reliable and agile performance, even through challenging vegetation ▪️ Autonomy: Outstanding completion of the autonomy obstacle course including dynamical obstacle avoidance by PLATON Autonomy Kit Beyond testing, Drone Shield 2026 provided an important platform to discuss the introduction and operational integration of UGVs within the Czech Armed Forces and NATO allies. #DiehlDefence #ZIESEL #PLATON #UGV #NATEPUGV

📌 Expansion of maritime portfolio: Diehl Defence and FLANQ combine expertise for autonomous maritime defence Diehl Defence and the German defence-tech company FLANQ have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for strategic collaboration in the field of autonomous maritime systems. Through this cooperation, both companies aim to pool their expertise and capabilities to extend maritime defence capabilities to unmanned platforms. The partnership enables both companies to enter the technological field of autonomous surface and underwater platforms as carriers for sensors and effectors. Together, they will further develop existing systems and prepare them for new maritime mission scenarios. The objective is to establish themselves early on as reliable partners for the German Navy and its international partners, leveraging the synergy between the two German companies and their shared approach to expand and strengthen German resilience. Last week, Diehl Defence CEO Helmut Rauch joined the German Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius on a strategically significant visit to the United States of America, together with a select delegation of industry representatives. The journey took the participants from the political center of Washington, D.C., to New York and Fort Worth, where they witnessed the impressive official rollout of Germany's first F-35 (Lockheed Martin). The trip provided a crucial platform for high-level strategic exchange, including roundtables with U.S. economic envoys, UN procurement representatives and key industry leaders. A defining moment of the mission was the signing of the "Statement of Intent" between the German Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius and U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, an agreement to significantly intensify defence-industrial cooperation. At Diehl Defence, we are proud to be a proactive partner in this strengthening transatlantic bond, by contributing our expertise as well as by continuing our manifold and very successful German-U.S. programs and cooperations in the future. Diehl Defence is proud to have contributed to the European Defence Agency's CUGS (Combat Unmanned Ground System) project, which for the first time successfully demonstrated and investigated the combat deployment of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) at a European level.   Diehl Defence led the development of a new C2 system designed to simultaneously operate multiple UGVs and UAVs of different types via standardized interfaces. This C2 system is based on Systematics’ Sitaware Frontline Battlefield Management System, which is already deployed in 50 NATO countries, including Germany. By building on existing infrastructure, this facilitates the future implementation of the C2 system into military units. During the demonstration, UGVs of the types Milrem THeMIS, Rheinmetall Wiesel, Patria 8x8 and IVECO LMV were controlled simultaneously via the Diehl Defence C2 system. Furthermore, selected functions of the integrated weapon stations could be displayed and controlled.   Additionally, Diehl Defence provided autonomous driving capabilities for several UGVs participating in the CUGS demo using the PLATON kit developed by Diehl Defence. This included equipping a Wiesel from Rheinmetall with PLATON, while Patria provided an unmanned AMV 8x8 - a vehicle that was developed as part of a long-standing collaboration between Patria and Diehl Defence. #DiehlDefence #UGV #UAV #cooperation #innovation

📌 New training facilities for tomorrow’s defence capabilities On September 17, Diehl Defence celebrated the groundbreaking of its new Training and Service Center in Southern Germany. Starting in 2028, customers will benefit from training services across the entire Diehl Defence product portfolio – ranging from simultaneous training for entire IRIS-T GBAD systems crews to specialized training concepts in the areas of ammunition or guided missiles, such as the IRIS-T family. The facility, featuring a modern office building with training rooms, spacious workshop divisions and an expansive outdoor area, will provide the ideal foundation for system training, as well as maintenance and repair courses. State-of-the-art training aids, such as Virtual Reality training equipment and a dedicated area for high fidelity, simulated C2 operator training, further support this approach. This project is another key element for Diehl Defence’s long-term integrated customer support strategy to be a full-service provider. 🔔 Live demonstration of loitering system: Diehl Defence and Elbit Systems successfully demonstrate the capabilities of SkyStriker Diehl Defence and Elbit Systems have reached the next important milestone in their strategic partnership. Following the cooperation agreement signed at ILA Berlin in June 2026, the operational capabilities of the SkyStriker system were successfully and decisively demonstrated in a comprehensive live demonstration in early September 2026. The focus of the demonstration was the system's range as well as the "hand-over" function, which was successfully performed at a distance of 80 km. During this, the system demonstrated its ability to autonomously recognize, track, and engage targets with highest precision.
