Happy to admit to being puzzled by what Anthropic is doing. Like you, Robert Eriksson, I had been led to believe that these models were simply large-scale predictive models, but having seen first-hand what Claude Opus and Sonnet can do with eg agentic coding, I have a sneaking suspicion that there is more going on than meets the eye! Watching this space with fascination.

Ceri Carlill har gillat dettaCeri Carlill har gillat detta“The myth of the universal leader!” 🤔 There are questions that accompany you throughout your entire career. For me, one of them is: What defines a good leader? It's tempting to give a universal answer. Perhaps a set of characteristics garnished with a few modern buzzwords would suffice as a blueprint for leadership. But that's not how reality works. Certainly not in a region like Central, Eastern, and Northern Europe. CENE is not a homogeneous area. Rather, it is a mosaic of cultures, levels of economic maturity, historical influences, and expectations that vary greatly. For example, what is considered a cooperative management style in Stockholm may be interpreted as a lack of decision-making power in parts of Eastern Europe. What is valued as structured governance in Germany, for example, is perceived as bureaucratic overload elsewhere. 👍 Against this backdrop, a "one-size-fits-all" answer seems almost naive. Nevertheless, three points help define what makes a good leader in a globalized world. Point 1: Context beats concept! Of course, there are fundamental principles. However, they are only effective when interpreted according to the situation. Leaders must be able to read not only figures and KPIs, but also moods, cultural codes, and unspoken expectations. I have seen managers who excelled in one market but failed in the next. Not because they were less competent, but because they couldn't adapt their style. Leadership is not a static skill; rather, it is an adaptive system. This requires intercultural competence. 👈 Point 2: Trust is universal, the path to it is not. Leadership cannot exist without trust. Period! However, it is interesting to note how trust develops differently in different cultures. In Northern Europe, for example, trust is often based on transparency and equality. In other regions under my purview at Red Hat, personal relationships, reliability in everyday life, and hierarchy play a stronger role. For managers, this means that trust must be earned in a way that suits the environment. However, this does not mean relinquishing responsibility. In fact, managers must establish clear guidelines and provide their employees with the freedom to operate within them. 👈 Point 3: Self-reflection is part of the equation. One often-underestimated aspect is working on oneself. Managers invest a lot of time in strategies and processes. However, they invest significantly less time reflecting on their own actions. Did I really listen in this situation? Did I create clarity or additional complexity? Where am I holding on to beliefs that no longer serve me? The answers are not always pleasant, but they are necessary.🤝 So, what does that mean in concrete terms? If I had to sum up the topic in one sentence, it would be this: Above all, leadership in an international environment is translation work. It involves translating global strategies into local realities, aligning expectations, and constantly adjusting your management style.🎯

Never before have we seen such surging demand across EMEA for genuinely open, enterprise-ready platforms that give organisations greater control, flexibility and transparency across their infrastructure and applications - without that open-ness, you cannot have a Sovereign Software Supply chain. That theme is becoming increasingly central, especially across defence and intelligence, where transparency, independence, security and long-term stability matter enormously. Red Hat’s open source model and hybrid cloud approach are uniquely aligned to those priorities - and more and more customers are choosing Open Source at scale to step away from closed platforms tied to specific country legislation. Martin’s view that Open Sovereign Platforms must support not just hybrid cloud, but also cloud-native application development and AI, is exactly right. As organisations think more seriously about modern, AI-ready infrastructure, that combination of openness, flexibility and operational trust becomes even more valuable - his expertise in this area will be of huge value to Red Hat's customers. Marting brings deep empathetic leadership experience, a strong point of view, and a clear sense of where the market is heading. Red Hat is seeing huge momentum and significant growth across its entire portfolio of enterprise-grade, open-source software solutions. The drive for enterprise-ready open-source solutions across the private and public sectors, that deliver transparency down to the code level, is clearly appealing to those seeking control, flexibility, and choice over their on-premises and cloud platforms. Nowhere is this more true than for Sovereign Platforms, designed for hybrid cloud, cloud-native application development, and AI. In almost every respect, Red Hat's open-source/enterprise-support business model aligns with the key principles of digital sovereignty, transparency, flexibility, independence, security, and stability. Furthermore, when taking into account IBM’s recent acquisitions, HashiCorp and Confluent, and the jointly engineered NVIDIA & Red Hat AI Factory, the story for modern AI-ready infrastructure is complete. For all these reasons and many others, Red Hat makes for a compelling story and a very exciting opportunity for me to help drive its next phase of growth. I will lead the EMEA solution architects team aligned with defence and intelligence, while also focusing directly on several strategic accounts in a player/manager role. Everything is aligned for Red Hat to be a great next chapter for me, a new team, exciting and progressive technology, and endless growth opportunities in one of the most strategically important sectors.
