👷♀️Last week, we welcomed over 300 attendees to our first-ever Women in Construction jobs fair.   ✨ It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and interest from everyone who joined us.   Held at Sizewell Sports and Social Club in Leiston, the event brought together around 35 of our brilliant supply chain partners, all ready to showcase opportunities, share insights, and inspire the next generation of women in construction.   Whether returning to work, looking to progress their careers, or just starting out, the fair was open to all. The day focussed on building confidence, challenging perceptions, and highlighting the wide range of opportunities available. 🚀   At Sizewell C, we’re committed to building a more diverse workforce. With 63% female representation in our leadership team, we’re driving towards improving the balance across every part of the project.   🙏 Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success! 🚧 We have awarded Kier Infrastructure a major contract to build the project’s main entrance. Bringing a wealth of experience to the project, Kier will deliver the North Plaza, which will play a vital role in improving access to our Temporary Construction Area. 💬 Damian Leydon, Sizewell C’s Site Delivery Director, explains: “The North Plaza is a key piece of infrastructure. It will serve as the secure entry point for trucks bringing materials to site and the entrance through which our workforce will pass after travelling in via our two park and ride facilities off the A12.” Starting in June, the 15-hectare gateway will support the movement of workers, vehicles, and materials during construction, whilst creating around 70 new jobs. 👷♀️We’re almost done for the day at our Women in Construction Jobs Fair, and what a brilliant turnout it’s been. People across Suffolk joined us to explore opportunities, connect with employers and get inspired for the next step. A huge thank you to everyone who attended with curiosity and enthusiasm!   🤝Today’s announcement from Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs that we will have a lead environmental regulator is good news. This new approach is more streamlined and will help us fulfil our regulatory requirements more efficiently.   💬As Mina Golshan CBE, our Safety, Security and Assurance Director, says: “This is exactly the kind of culture change our sector needs. Sizewell C is set to become the first funder of a new Community Interest Company in Suffolk. We're investing an initial commitment of up to £5m a year to support the delivery of long-lasting environmental, social and cultural benefits for the local area. This initiative is about adding to the work we already do in this region and widening the positive impact we can have here. Its structure is designed to bring in other supporters and funding streams too – which means we can work with other nationally significant infrastructure projects in the East of England to deliver even more benefits for Suffolk. 🔔We're pleased to announce that the two roundabouts we've been building on the A12 are now open. 👷Our road teams have worked hard to upgrade the old junctions at Friday Street and Yoxford.
