Ed Cook was a fine all-round jumper and hurdler. He won the IC4A long jump in 1908 and 1909, the AAU pole vault in 1907, and tied for first place in 1911. He had such marks to his credit as 21.6 for 220y, 6-2 (1.88) for the high jump, 23-5½ (7.15) for the long jump, 15.6 for the 120y hurdles, and 12-4½ (3.77) for the vault. At the 1908 Olympics he shared the title with [A. C. Gilbert] and this tie for first place in the pole vault remains unique in Olympic history Cook graduated from Cornell in 1910 and became a farmer and director of the First National Bank of Chillicothe (Ohio).
