March 27, 1947 - On this day in history in the NCSHOF, Doug Wilkerson was born in Fayetteville. Wilkerson was a standout at E.E. Smith High School and then at North Carolina Central. Wilkerson played 14 years in the National Football League, mostly with the San Diego Chargers. A three-time Pro Bowl selection, he was inducted into the NCSHOF in 2002.
