She is the 2025 MIT Sloan CIO Leadership Award winner. Modernizing the Enterprise: Infrastructure as a Long-Term Strategic Advantage Digital transformation is only as strong as the infrastructure that supports it. • Speaker Announcement for the 23rd Annual MIT Sloan CIO Symposium We’re pleased to feature Irving Wladawsky-Berger, Fellow, MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy, as moderator, as part of the May 19 Symposium. AI and the Changing Role of the CIO The role of the CIO has never been more consequential. AI is forcing CIOs to rethink architecture, governance, talent, and their own role in the enterprise. Is AI another wave of digital transformation, or does it demand deeper changes in how organizations think, decide, and compete? This session examines how AI reshapes enterprise design, risk management, and leadership expectations—and what CIOs must do now to remain effective stewards of both technology and institutional trust. • Speaker Announcement for the 23rd Annual MIT Sloan CIO Symposium We’re pleased to feature Michael Schrage, Fellow, MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy, as moderator as part of the May 19 Symposium Governance is Strategy: Decision Rights, Design Principles, and the Architecture of Enterprise Intelligence Many enterprises still frame AI governance primarily as a compliance function. But governance models built for static software must now oversee systems that learn, adapt, and increasingly make consequential decisions with limited human intervention. The core challenge is not guardrails alone, but decision design: Who holds decision rights when intelligent systems recommend or execute material actions? How should governance frameworks evolve as the systems they oversee evolve? This session positions governance not as overhead, but as strategic architecture shaping enterprise intelligence and long-term value. And architecture is destiny. • Speaker Announcement for the 23rd Annual MIT Sloan CIO Symposium We’re pleased to feature Mike Grandinetti, who will serve as moderator, as part of the May 19 Symposium. From Proof of Concept to P&L: Operationalizing AI at Scale Every large enterprise now showcases AI pilots; far fewer can point to a P&L that materially depends on them. This session dives into what it really takes to make AI a core business capability rather than a side show—building shared platforms, robust data and a strong foundation for AI models. Through concrete case examples, we’ll explore how to turn scattered proofs of concept into a curated portfolio of AI capabilities tied to revenue, cost, and risk outcomes, and what leaders must do differently in funding, governance, and execution to get there.
