Well established industrial distributor specializing in piping products used across a variety of sectors, including industrial manufacturing, construction, and infrastructure is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to drive engineering excellence across a multi-site U.S. operation. This executive role blends strategic leadership with hands-on technical engagement, ensuring facilities, equipment, and processes operate safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
Position Overview
The VP of Engineering will lead process engineering and maintenance functions across multiple locations, overseeing skilled trades teams including electricians, welders, and technicians. This individual will standardize engineering practices, enhance operational performance, and directly support complex technical challenges when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Provide engineering leadership across multiple facilities, driving standardization while supporting site-specific needs
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, throughput, and cost optimization
Identify and implement automation, material handling, and process efficiency improvements
Serve as a senior technical authority for troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and engineering design review
Oversee maintenance strategy, including preventive and predictive programs, reliability improvements, and compliance
Manage capital projects and budgets, including equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and vendor partnerships
Travel to sites to support execution, assess performance, and partner with operations leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; advanced certifications or licenses preferred
12+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience in manufacturing or distribution environments
Proven experience leading maintenance and trades-based teams
Strong mechanical and electrical background with exposure to automation and industrial systems
Demonstrated success in reliability, process improvement, and capital project execution
