After 7.5 years at Plexal, I’m really pleased to be stepping into the CEO role today. It’s been a privilege to be part of the journey from the early days through to where we are now, working with an incredible team, ambitious founders and partners across government and industry. I’m excited to build on that and lead Plexal into its next chapter. Given everything going on in the world, our work feels increasingly important in shaping how the UK thinks about innovation and how we actually scale it. The UK is good at creating new technology. We’re less good at getting it used, particularly in complex industries. For Plexal, that means a deeper focus on adoption, especially where it matters most for sovereignty, strategic technologies and critical sectors. We already connect startups, government, industry and academia. The next step is to turn more of that into real-world deployment that consistently addresses pressing challenges. In practice, that means helping startups navigate complex supply chains, working more closely with partners that have real problems to solve, and using our locations as places where this can happen faster. I’m very grateful to Andrew Roughan for his support over the years, and to the whole team for everything that’s got us to this point. Looking forward to what comes next.
They are so lucky to have you at the helm Saj 🤩👏. I feel like a groupie 😍😁
You're the most disgustingly dashing, successful and smart chap Saj, and I know you'll do an amazing job for Plexal. Well done. They are lucky.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Well done mate! Really excited for you, wishing you all the best
Congratulations Saj 👏👏
No surprise to me Saj. You are a quality act.
Congratulations on the mandate, Saj Huq You identified the exact fracture: the UK creates brilliantly but fails at adoption in critical sectors. To safely scale our Autonomic infrastructure, we must transition from the chaos of probabilistic software to deterministic, bare-metal hardware. We at O4M.ai are building that physical deployment bridge right now. Looking forward to seeing Plexal lead this next chapter.
Huge congrats, very well deserved. Exciting times ahead.

4wStepping into this leadership role provides the perfect vantage point to drive real structural change. Your observation about the ecosystem excelling at creation but failing at adoption is incredibly accurate. Bridging the gap between startups and legacy supply chains is the primary hurdle for strategic tech. Regulated industries desperately need modern solutions but complex procurement processes crush early ventures. Building spaces where these different worlds can collaborate will rapidly accelerate real world deployment. This transforms research into tangible assets that protect sovereignty and boost economic resilience. Focusing on enterprise integration rather than just funding ideas will redefine regional tech success. It takes immense patience to guide founders through massive corporate structures to secure final contracts. What policy shift do you believe would most effectively speed up technology adoption in the public sector?
