National Cyber Security Centre warns Scottish Public Sector of increased activity

The NCSC is urging all UK organisations to strengthen their online defences by improving cyber resilience and ensuring they are prepared to respond effectively to denial of service (DoS) attacks. A denial of service (DoS) attack is designed to overwhelm a website or network, degrading performance or making services completely inaccessible. While DoS attacks are often low in technical sophistication, their impact can be significant. A successful attack can result in partial or total system outages, consuming considerable time and resources to analyse, defend against, and recover from. The interim director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency triggered an internal cybersecurity warning with the uploads — and a DHS-level damage assessment.
