Birmingham City Foundation Partnership Strengthens Community Ties

The Bridges and Safety Infrastructure for Community Success (BASICS) Act is aimed at strengthening federal transportation programs and expanding local governments’ access to critical infrastructure funding. The legislation would increase local access to formula funding, maintain strong federal investments in bridge infrastructure, and establish a dedicated rural and nonmetropolitan planning program to better support communities nationwide. The National Association of Counties (NACo), along with CCAP, supports this legislation as an important step toward helping counties maintain and modernize the nation’s infrastructure and transportation systems. It’s literally the BASICS. There are two things about the abundance of water in Pennsylvania. Number one It’s a valuable asset to both agriculture and manufacturing. Number two it’s a huge liability on our infrastructure because it aids in deterioration of our roads bridges. Mercer County holds the distinct honor of having the third largest inventory of county owned bridges out of 67 counties across the commonwealth. Fortunately for the county the roads are owned by the State and local municipalities but we the people fund them too.

Construction has begun on a new interchange at VA Route 7 and Route 690 in Purcellville, aiming to improve traffic flow and safety along Hillsboro Road. - The project officially started on March 30, 2026, as announced by Loudoun County government. - The interchange construction is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in the area. We should not forget that the Front-end process plays an essential role in determining the performance of infrastructure megaprojects. However, Front-End issues often negatively affect the process, undermining the value of infrastructure to society.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is accelerating construction work to expand US 75, a key north-south thoroughfare in Grayson County, Texas. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recently signed grant agreements for two Nebraska infrastructure projects.
