Before ISC West I posted:
“Will we see the same fragmented systems, the same roster of companies, and the same disconnected solutions yet again? I’d like to believe the answer is no, but I suspect I’ll be disappointed.”
Well… I wasn’t wrong.
The floor had the usual suspects, and one oversized booth stole the show with a full-on March Madness basketball gimmick — hoops, branded balls, giveaways, loud music, the works. Longest lines on the floor. Everyone was laughing and shooting hoops.
But when you stepped past the games and asked real questions about integration, how it actually connects to the rest of a security system, or solving real fragmentation issues… the conversation went nowhere.
Meanwhile, the booths that showed practical workflows, actual interoperability, and weren’t afraid to talk about the hard parts of making systems work together engaged in way more meaningful conversations.
Same story as always: easy spectacle wins the crowd, but it doesn’t move the industry forward.
End users keep picking the safe, familiar option because it’s simpler. Real innovation still feels stuck in the back seat.
We can do better. The question is — will we?
What did you see at #ISCWest? More hype or actual progress?

10x more spectrum, count me in. I’ll stop by and say hi.
