Shalamar ([ˈʃɑːləmɑːr], [ˈʃæʔ]) é um R&B e soul grupo musical vocal americano criado por Dick Griffey e Don Cornelius em 1977, ativo durante toda a década de 1980. A formação clássica do Shalamar na gravadora SOLAR era composta por Howard Hewett, Jody Watley e Jeffrey Daniel. Originalmente, era um grupo voltado para a disco criado pelo agente de reservas do programa Soul Train, Dick Griffey, e pelo criador e produtor de televisão Don Cornelius.[1][2] O grupo tornou-se posteriormente um influente trio de dança administrado por Dick Griffey. Inicialmente contratado pela Soul Train Records, o grupo transferiu-se para a Solar Records de Griffey após a dissolução da empresa Cornelius-Griffey Entertainment.[3] Segundo o British Hit Singles & Albums, eles foram ícones da moda e criadores de tendências, além de ajudarem a introduzir o estilo de dança "body-popping" no Reino Unido.[3] O nome do grupo foi criado por Griffey.[4]
