Of course, I know the world doesn't need art; it needs food, energy, and to reclaim all the deserts and stop the rot our wars have made possible and the excesses to which people descend; but without art, it would be an even gloomier world, and as the Bible says; "each thing in nature must give according to its own gifts." (although that doesn't mean that we can't acquire more intellectual gifts.)

I know it's a cliche when it gets said more than once, and it's only a TV show anyway; but we could have a better world if every single person could be made to believe that the needs of the many generally outweigh the needs of the few sometimes. It feels like too many people take, and not enough know HOW and WHAT to give. As an artist I believe my work only satisfy others if it first satisfies me.
