Κιεόπαο παξέζηε ζηελ έλαξμε ησλ εξγαζηώλ ηνπ Διιελνζνπεδηθνύ
Δπηρεηξεκαηηθνύ Φόξνπκ (Hellenic Swedish Business Forum) πνπ
πξαγκαηνπνηήζεθε ηελ Γεπηέξα, 3 Οθησβξίνπ 2016, ζην ζπλεδξηαθό
θέληξν IVA Konferenscenter ζηελ Σηνθρόικε. Τνλ Σεβαζκηώηαην
ππεδέρζε ν Δμνρ. Πξέζβεο ηεο Διιάδνο ζηελ Σνπεδία θ. Γεκήηξηνο
Τνπινύπαο, ελώ αθνινύζεζε ζπλάληεζε κε ηνλ Υθππνπξγό Δμσηεξηθώλ
θ. Γεκήηξην Μάξδα, ζηνλ νπνίν ν Σεβαζκηώηαηνο εμέθξαζε ηελ ραξά
γηα ηελ γλσξηκία θαη ηελ ζπγθίλεζή ηνπ, θαζόζνλ ν Έιιελαο πνιηηηθόο
γελλήζεθε ζηελ Βαζηιεύνπζα ησλ πόιεσλ, ηελ Κσλζηαληηλνύπνιε.
Αθνινπζώληαο ην ππόινηπν πξόγξακκα, ν Μεηξνπνιίηεο
παξαθνινύζεζε κε ελδηαθέξνλ ηηο εηζαγσγηθέο νκηιίεο ησλ θ. Oscar
Stenström, ηνπ Σνπεδνύ Υθππνπξγνύ αξκνδίνπ γηα επξσπατθά ζέκαηα

Τν κεζεκέξη ηεο ίδηαο εκέξαο, ν θ. Μάξδαο ζπλνδεπόκελνο από
ηνλ Έιιελα Πξέζβε επηζθέθηεθε ηνλ Καζεδξηθό Ναό ηνπ Αγίνπ
Γεσξγίνπ Σηνθρόικεο, όπνπ θαη έγηλε δεθηόο από ηνλ Σεβ. Μεηξνπνιίηε
Σνπεδίαο, ν νπνίνο, ηνλ θαισζόξηζε εθ κέξνπο ηεο Α. Θ. Παλαγηόηεηνο,
ηνπ Οηθνπκεληθνύ Παηξηάξρνπ θ.θ. Βαξζνινκαίνπ.
Μεηά ηελ μελάγεζε ζηνπο ρώξνπο ηνπ Ιεξνύ Νανύ, ν
Σεβαζκηώηαηνο παξνπζίαζε ζηνλ πςειό πξνζθεθιεκέλν ην
εθθιεζηαζηηθό έξγν πνπ πξαγκαηνπνηήζεθε ζηελ Σθαλδηλαπΐα ηελ δηεηία
ηεο αξρηεξαηηθήο ηνπ δηαθνλίαο, κε ηδηαίηεξε έκθαζε ζηελ ίδξπζε
ηεζζάξσλ λέσλ ελνξηώλ θαη ελόο κνλαζηεξηνύ, θαζώο θαη ηελ
ζηειέρσζε ηεο Ι. Μεηξνπόιεσο κε νθηώ λένπο θιεξηθνύο θαη πέληε
ιατθνύο ζπλεξγάηεο.
Δπίζεο, έγηλε ιόγνο γηα ηελ ζπζηεκαηηθή πξνζπάζεηα πξνζέγγηζεο
ησλ λέσλ δεύηεξεο θαη ηξίηεο γεληάο πνπ έρνπλ ελζσκαησζεί ζηελ 

Σνπεδηθή θνηλσλία, θαζώο θαη ησλ πξνζειύησλ πνπ επηζπκνύλ λα
εληαρζνύλ ζηνπο θόιπνπο ηεο Οξζνδόμνπ Δθθιεζίαο, κε ηελ εηζαγσγή
ζηελ ιαηξεπηηθή δσή ηεο Σνπεδηθήο θαη Αγγιηθήο γιώζζαο, ώζηε λα
γίλεη πην θαηαλνεηή ε ιαηξεία. Σύληνκα ζα πξαγκαηνπνηεζεί ε έθδνζε
ηεο Θείαο Λεηηνπξγίαο ηνπ Ιεξνύ Φξπζνζηόκνπ θαη ησλ Δπαγγειηθώλ
πεξηθνπώλ ηνπ έηνπο ζηηο ηξεηο γιώζζεο.
Σην ίδην πιαίζην εληάζζνληαη θαη νη ηαθηηθέο πνηκαληηθέο
επηζθέςεηο ηνπ επηζθόπνπ ζηηο ρώξεο ηηο αλήθνπζεο ζηελ επαξρία ηεο Ι.
Μεηξνπόιεσο Σνπεδίαο, κε πην πξόζθαηε επίζθεςε απηή ζηελ Ιζιαλδία,
όπνπ θαηνηθνύλ πεξίπνπ εθαηό Έιιελεο.
Κάλνληαο κλεία ζηηο άνθλεο πξνζπάζεηεο ηνπ Υπνπξγείνπ
Δμσηεξηθώλ, ν Μεηξνπνιίηεο επραξίζηεζε ζην πξόζσπν ηνπ θ.
Υθππνπξγνύ ηελ Διιεληθή Πνιηηεία γηα ηε ζηήξημε ηεο νκνγέλεηαο ζε
κηα ηόζν δύζθνιε πεξίνδν γηα ηελ παηξίδα, γηα ην γεγνλόο όηη δελ
ιεζκνλά λα ππνζηεξίδεη ηελ δηαηήξεζε ηεο ηαπηόηεηαο ησλ απαληαρνύ
Διιήλσλ κε ηελ απόζπαζε εθπαηδεπηηθνύ πξνζσπηθνύ γηα ηελ
απξόζθνπηε ιεηηνπξγία ησλ Διιεληθώλ Σρνιείσλ. Τόληζε, επίζεο, ηελ
ζπκπόξεπζε Δθθιεζίαο θαη Πνιηηείαο κε ηελ παξνρή βνήζεηαο από ηελ
πιεπξά ηεο εθθιεζίαο ζηελ πξνζπάζεηα δηαρείξηζεο ησλ πξνβιεκάησλ
πνπ πξνέθπςαλ από ηελ αύμεζε ησλ κεηαλαζηεπηηθώλ εηζξνώλ πξνο ηε
ρώξα καο.
Δλ θαηαθιείδη, ν Σεβαζκηώηαηνο επρήζεθε ζηνλ θ. Μάξδα λα
επνδσζνύλ νη ζθνπνί ηνπ ηαμηδίνπ ηνπ ζηε Σνπεδία γηα ηε ζύζθημε ησλ
Διιελνζνπεδηθώλ εκπνξηθώλ ζρέζεσλ. Από ηελ πιεπξά ηνπ, ν θ.
Υθππνπξγόο επραξίζηεζε γηα ηε θηινμελία θαη ηελ ελεκέξσζε. Η
ζπλάληεζε νινθιεξώζεθε κε αληαιιαγή αλακλεζηηθώλ δώξσλ θαη ηελ
ιήςε αλακλεζηηθώλ θσηνγξαθηώλ.
Τν απόγεπκα ηεο ίδηαο εκέξαο ν Σεβαζκηώηαηνο παξέζηε κε ηελ
ζπλνδεία ηνπ ζηελ δεμίσζε πνπ παξεηέζε ζηελ πξεζβεπηηθή θαηνηθία
ζηελ Σηνθρόικε, όπνπ ζπλεράξε ηνπο ζπκκεηέρνληεο ζηηο εξγαζίεο ηνπ
Διιελνζνπεδηθνύ Δπηρεηξεκαηηθνύ Φόξνπκ γηα ηελ επηηπρή έθβαζή ηνπ
πνπ επηζθξαγίζηεθε κε ηελ ζύλαςε επσθειώλ δηκεξώλ ζπκθσληώλ.

Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden Meets with Greece’s
Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitrios Mardas
STOCKHOLM – His Eminence Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All
Scandinavia attended the opening session of the Hellenic Swedish
Business Forum on Mon. Oct. 3, 2016 at the IVA Conference Center in
Stockholm. Greece’s Ambassador to Sweden His Excellency Dimitrios
Touloupas was on hand to receive the Metropolitan, while a meeting with
Greek Deputy Foreign Minister His Excellency Dimitrios Mardas
followed, during which Metropolitan Cleopas expressed his pleasure at
making the latter’s acquaintance, as well as how touched he was to hear
that the minister was born in Constantinople – the headquarters of the
Ecumenical Patriarchate.
At the session, Metropolitan Cleopas listened to the opening
speeches delivered by Oscar Stenström, Sweden’s State Secretary to the
Minister for EU Affairs and Trade, Deputy FM Mardas, Andreas
Hadjigeorgiou, Chief Economist for the Stockholm Chamber of
Commerce, John Sarakakis, Chairman of the Hellenic Swedish Chamber
of Commerce, Theresa Ryberg, Head of Office Enterprise Europe
Network, and Jan Björnum, Chairman of Trade Partner Sweden.
On noon of that same day, Mr. Mardas visited the St. George
Cathedral in Stockholm, accompanied by the Greek Ambassador, where
he was received by Metropolitan Cleopas, who welcomed him on behalf
of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
Following a tour of the Cathedral, Metropolitan Cleopas briefed
the deputy foreign minister on the state of the ministries being provided
throughout Scandinavia during the two years he has been shepherding the
Metropolis, especially noting the establishment of four new parishes and
one monastery, as well as the addition of eight new clergymen and five
lay associates to the personnel of the Metropolis.
Furthermore, the two men spoke about the systematic efforts being
made to reach out to second and third-generation Greeks of Sweden who
have assimilated into Swedish society, as well as non ethnic Greeks who
are interested in converting to Orthodoxy, through the introduction of
Swedish and English into the liturgical life of the Metropolis to better
enable the faithful to understand the services. Moreover, a trilingual
publication of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom and the Sunday
Gospel passages for the year will soon be published in Greek, English,
and Swedish.
Metropolitan Cleopas also noted that his regular archpastoral visits
to the nations belonging to the Holy Metropolis of Sweden – including a 

visit to Iceland over the summer, to meet the some 100 Greek Orthodox
faithful residing there – is also part of the Metropolis outreach efforts.
Citing the tireless efforts of the Greek foreign ministry on behalf of
the Greek Diaspora, Metropolitan Cleopas asked Deputy FM Mardas to
convey his thanks to the Greek Government for supporting Hellenes
living abroad in spite of the difficult challenges currently faced by
Greece, and for the fact that Greece remains vigilant in supporting the
preservation of Hellenic identity for Greeks all around the world by
dispatching teachers to staff Greek schools and language programs
operating abroad. He also noted that the Orthodox Church actively
supports the Greek state by providing substantial aid to help handle the
problems that have arisen due to the rise in refugees and migrants
entering Greece.
At the conclusion of their meeting, the Metropolitan wished the
deputy foreign minister every success on his trip to Sweden to promote
Greek-Swedish trade relations. On his part, Deputy FM Mardas thanked
Metropolitan Cleopas for the hospitality and briefing. The men concluded
their meeting with the exchange of commemorative gifts.
That same afternoon, Metropolitan Cleopas attended a reception
held at the Greek ambassador’s residence in Stockholm together with his
associates and congratulated the participants of the Hellenic Swedish
Business Forum on its successful organization, which culminated in the
signing of beneficial bilateral agreements.
