Shop with Points is generally available to buy millions of products on Amazon.com. Please note, however, that rewards or points cannot be used for all purchases on Amazon.com, and items that currently may not be purchased using Shop with Points include some digital goods, Kindle downloads, or Subscribe and Save items. Please reference our restrictions list below.

About Shop with Points Restrictions

After the first time you use and save your Membership Rewards® eligible American Express Card to your Amazon.com account, you’ll see a points balance displayed underneath your Card at checkout. If your Membership Rewards eligible Card is not saved in your Amazon.com account, or if it's saved but you have not yet made a purchase, you can link your Card via the Manual Enrollment process linked below. If you are receiving a specific error message when you attempt to link your Card, please follow the instructions on the error message. Once your Membership Rewards points balance is available, just select that option at check out and apply points towards your purchase. Terms and Conditions for the Membership Rewards® program apply. Manual Enrollment

Yes. When you charge your purchase or renewal of your Prime subscription to your Membership Rewards® enrolled eligible American Express Card, you can choose to use Membership Rewards points to cover the charge. Points will be debited from your program account towards the total amount of the Prime subscription, and will be subsequently debited towards the total amount of the renewal if your subscription is set for auto-renewal. In the event your Membership Rewards points balance is not enough to cover the charge for the total amount of the subscription, American Express will separately charge the portion of your subscription that you did not cover with points to your American Express Card account and you will receive a statement credit only for the amount of the points used. You can choose to select a different payment method to pay for the subscription at any time on the link below. In the event you are using a Prime trial subscription, you can still choose to use your Membership Rewards enrolled eligible American Express Card as the payment preference so that you can use points to cover the charge for your subscription after your trial period ends.

If you no longer want to use Membership Rewards® points to Shop with Points at Amazon, you can unlink your Card by opting out of the enrollment option. You will still be able to use your American Express Card for transactions on Amazon.com.

If you have a Membership Rewards® points balance that is less than 2 points, have not added a Membership Rewards eligible American Express Card to your Amazon account, or have not used a Membership Rewards eligible Card to make a purchase at Amazon before, you may not see available points on the payments page. No. There is no fee for using Membership Rewards® points on Amazon.com.

Orders for which you use Membership Rewards® points must also include the Card associated to the rewards account from which the Membership Rewards points are applied. When you use Membership Rewards points for your entire Amazon purchase, American Express will charge your purchase to your Card account and deduct the points you used from your program account, and you will see a corresponding statement credit for the points you used.

You may use the Card from which the Membership Rewards® points are applied or use Amazon.com gift cards to pay for the rest of your order.

Yes, you may apply any eligible promotional coupons to orders paid using Membership Rewards® points.

No. You can only use Membership Rewards® points towards purchases online at Amazon.com.

Rewards from multiple reward programs cannot currently be aggregated for a single order. You may register multiple rewards programs on Amazon; however, rewards purchases will be paired with the Card associated with the rewards program. Rewards may also be combined with an Amazon.com gift cards.

Amazon applies the rewards points that you requested to use and that your rewards provider approved for use, then the gift card or stored value amount, and then any remaining balance to the Credit or Charge Card linked to your registered rewards account.

We'll never apply points without your permission. To use points for your order when checking out on Amazon, click the "Change" button in the payment method box located below the order summary. When points are applied to your order total, you'll see them before you place your order. If you don't see points, click the "Change" button in the Payment Method box. When you choose how you'd like to pay, you'll be able to apply available points to your order.

If you cancel your purchase and had used Membership Rewards® points toward that purchase, Amazon will refund the corresponding dollar amount of the purchase to the American Express Card you used. Please allow 2 to 4 business days for the refund to post to your online statement. If you’d like to have the Membership Rewards points returned to your account instead, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276.

You can redeem Membership Rewards® points at a rate of $0.007 per point towards a statement credit for purchases at Amazon.com. That’s $7 in statement credits for every 1,000 Membership Rewards® points redeemed.
