Pres Obama, Tim Schafer, me in San Francisco's Chinatown for GDC Festival of Gaming. Alright, so we weren't there at the exact same time, but we were in the same places on the same street: Jackson St in Chinatown, since you're wondering. This is one way I go about Remixing Reality. I have a serendipitous moment and say to myself, "I wanna remember that my fave dim sum is next to the dive bar that Project: Reds is named after." For those that don't know, Tim and the folks at Double Fine Productions named many project codenames after dive bars in San Francisco's Chinatown. I did not know this until I sponsored Broken Age aka Double Fine Adventure aka Project: Reds and watched the documentary (link in the comments). If you are at GDC or ever think you want to make games, go watch the documentary episodes for Broken Age and Psychonauts 2. They taught me so much. People ask, "How do you do so much with just yourself?" And my answer is "The folks at Double Fine taught me very well." (link to DFTV in the comments, go watch 'em) I wanted to show just how close Reds was to Great Eastern Restaurant, the place Pres Obama ate at. It's not literally across the street, but a few doors down from each other. I knew Remixing Reality, my spatial computing app, would be able to attach text to the restaurant, then Reds and then across the street. However, I wasn't 100% sure it would remember it well enough for me to walk between the two spots since people were moving, cars were moving, etc. However, as you can see, I put the text in the real world, then made my video and bam, it all worked like magic. Spatial Computing is here people and it even works on your phone, which I bet many of you didn't even realize. If you have an iPhone , you can dip your toes in today with my Remixing Reality app. My fearless and wise leader, Mitu Khandaker 💫 GDC (Director of the NYU Game Design Future Lab), and others have helped me see I need to show the world what purpose I'm building Remixing Reality for. Therefore, I'm going to try to spend the week remixing reality to help you all understand what I envision for my product. I'll drop links to the bar, restaurant, the "Codename: Reds" video, the DF Documentary library, and my Remixing Reality app in the comments. If you are around GDC, let's meetup. You can use Remixing Reality in front of me, so I can see what I can do to make the user experience better. Plus, you can tell me how you'd like to remix your reality, so I can build features to enable what you want. #SpatialComputing #GDC #AR #Mobile #Chinatown

What if theatre could be tailored to you? The Grinning Man project explored how VR makes that possible 🎭 What makes theatre so powerful is often the subtle connection between performer and audience- a glance, a shared moment, a sense of presence. Using a motion captured performance of Labyrinth, a standout song from The Grinning Man musical, this project reimagines a traditional one-to-many performance as a one-to-one experience. By incorporating real-time audience data, the system adapts the actor’s performance to each individual viewer. The result is an intimate encounter that moves beyond passive viewing, where audiences don’t just watch, but feel part of the performance. This work highlights the potential of virtual reality to create responsive, emotionally engaging experiences, opening up new possibilities for storytelling and live performance 📖✨ 🎥 This is the second of five videos showcasing MyWorld's Experimental Productions. Take a look at Aardman's experiments with Virtual Production in our previous video: https://lnkd.in/esxg8Nza Edited by Jon Aitken Daniel Efergan, Tom Livingstone, Mandy Rose, Georgia Hope, Tim Powell, Dr Sarah Campbell, Imaginarium Studios, Joseph Bell, Mike Richardson, Ollie Lindsey, Jon Aitken

Culture is dead, or so we’ve heard. Flatlined by algorithms. Buried under trends. But the work that shapes the moment – the kind that pulses through gaming, music, sport and beyond – proves creativity is still very much alive. That’s what the Culture discipline at D&AD Awards 2026 celebrates, including Gaming & Virtual Worlds, Music Videos, Entertainment and more. We're also introducing two brand-new categories, Sports Entertainment and Cultural Influence — recognising the ideas that don’t just launch, but live and breathe in culture. If your work became part of the moment, our judges want to see it. Entries close 19 March, 23:59 GMT (with discounts available for small businesses and freelancers), so don't wait. Great piece about the convergence of our emerging technology sectors. "Can you tell me a bit about how film and games pipelines are coming together? Lincoln Wallen: At a fundamental level, both industries are doing the same thing: building worlds. Whether it’s a film or a game, you start with design, move into characters and environments, then into layout and performance, and finally into rendered imagery. The difference is that games operate in real time, while film integrates everything offline. But the pipelines are increasingly complementary. Technologies like virtual production, real-time rendering and game engines - particularly Unreal - are now embedded in film workflows. So the crossover isn’t new anymore. It’s becoming the norm." We know how to measure a film's box office. But how do we measure its footprint on human behavior? It's time to stop treating "Social Impact Entertainment" as a niche genre of documentaries. Whether it's a summer blockbuster, a VR experience, or a rom-com, every story shapes culture, empathy, and action. Ed Lantz and Julie Davitz explore the fascinating shift from Impact Intention to "Impact Intelligence", using behavioral science to measure what happens after the credits roll.
