The RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design is a nationally recognised qualification for individuals working or aiming to work in senior civil design roles. Graduates of this course are prepared to perform specialised, complex technical tasks in civil construction, including the design of major projects in areas such as roads, drainage, bridges, and subdivisions.
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply advanced knowledge and skills to design and manage civil construction projects. They work autonomously and are responsible for planning, analysis, and coordination of design activities to meet client and project requirements. Graduates may work as senior civil designers or para-professional engineers, providing support to professional engineers through the application of theoretical and technical knowledge to solve design and operational challenges.
The course is delivered through a blended model, including face-to-face training at Avalon College Australia’s campus and online supervised sessions with a trainer. A range of learning methods are used, including realistic workplace scenarios, case studies, presentations, classroom discussions, breakout activities, and role-plays. Students will complete 20 scheduled course contact hours per week. In addition, students are expected to undertake approximately 5 hours per week of structured self-study.
